Gets worse each time you watch it back. Blind backpass, OK mistake made, but wow did the keeper compound the error and make that worse.

BPF trying to save the corner makes a right hash of it and gifts nearly an open net, then seems to miss collecting a simple ball, incredibly lucky and also that's piss poor.

Anyone think we'll be in for another keeper in Jan? He's not known for his passing football from the back either. He's improved recenty from early season but...

 
No I don't think so, I think he's more than decent in L1 now. Yes that was a foul up, but was also slightly unlucky when trying to improvise after being sold down the river. Don't forget, he's playing behind a team who are still in rehab and haven't yet recovered from the car crash that has been this season so far. New keeper not a priority for me at all.

He did the right thing trying to save the corner and it was an terrible back pass . People have been saying he looks static ,so if he had not gone to try and save the corner that would have proved their point . He did the right thing and he saved a corner . Well played Peacock.
 
PF had quite a lot of moments under pressure with the ball at his feet. He did well with pretty much all of them. We need to work on maybe not putting him under quite so much pressure quite so often (this was after all a limited team we were playing against).

I didn’t come away from the game thinking PF had a nightmare even with the passage of play we are talking about on this thread.

Yes this is a clear weakness through recruitment and injury to Hubby. As for BPF, he pulled off some great stops yesterday and was generally strong under pressure

If we are going to play 3 at the back we should be looking at Ashworth or Husband on the left and Casey, Horsfall and Ihiekwe battling it out for the other two spots.
BPF has a great incentive to do well with us the world cup with Northern Ireland, that will focus him, id stick with him.

Yes initially, but he made a mess of it and should have probably have been safety first and out for a throw. He was though reacting to a mistake.

Casey then makes up with a tackle.

But afrer that, the missing of the collection of a simple ball at the end, to slide and put it back across his goal or nearly in it was the one that was incredibly poor. Got to be jumping on that ball.
 
BPF has improved & he needed to. The back pass cock up wasn't his fault, although his decision making needs to improve for me, it should have been a safety first hoof out & in the first half he hesitated when he should have come for the ball, resulting in a near miss for them, positionally he isn't the best. I think we'll be sticking with him & perhaps these things can be coached to some extent. Ravizzoli has looked shocking & god knows why he was brought in & signed.

Forget the initial bit, watch after Casey tackles and BPF just has to collect the ball but slides into it and knocks it across his own goal. That's poor.
 
Why are people calling it a 'blind back pass'? He looks over his shoulder initially, but then mishits it.

BPF does make a hash of it, isn't urgent enough getting back, and then God knows what he's doing when trying to gather the ball, but it's Casey's error. Great recovering tackle though!

It's poor that you have not watched the incident properly. He lost his footing on the line and the ball came out towards the scunny player . He put it across towards the box not peacock.

I've not watched it? And yet you're replying to the post where I said forget that bit and look at the bit I described after the Casey recovery tackle.

I've watched it many times, have you? After the tackle the ball is free and needs to be collected by the keeper, he slides in and fails to collect it pushing it dangerously towards and across goal, luckily straight to a defender.

What are you on about?
 
Most keepers now could qualify for midfielders 20 years ago because of how good they are with their feet these days. That was a cock up but how often do you see cock ups in the centre of the field? It’s just magnified because BPF is a goalkeeper.

We were playing Scunthorpe, not Barcelona.

You obviously know what I am on about ,but I do see what you mean and yes you are right ,that was bad keeping . Saying that I believe that some of his so called mistakes in the past have actually not been mistakes and I believe he is getting a raw deal from supporters because of it.

As his confidence has improved so has his keeping and every goal keeper in the world makes mistakes some times.
