The Eton Old Boys Jolly Club

I posted weeks ago that our Post-Brexit Government had declined an EU offer of assistance ( “Can’t take kit off them having just left. We’ll show the Public what we can do ourselves”).
Now we know ! P*ss-ups in Breweries springs to mind. Hancock lied tonight on TV. It WAS a political decision, and the death toll is still going North. If this is how Trade Negotiations are going to be handled, God help us. Back in December we were offered the choice between Bumbling Idiots ( refer to title), and a Neo- Marxist alternative. We chose the former. As the Bachman Overdrive wailed at us back in the 70’s, “You ain’t seen nothin’ yet” Indeed, God help us, but we were hardly spoilt for choice.

From what I read in the media he is at the very least confusing membership of the EU ventilator procurement scheme with the EU PPE procurement scheme.

Senior bod in the Foreign Office has confirmed it was a political decision, but may well reconsider his wording this evening. No pressure brought to bear there, oh no.

What I can't understand is them turning down offers of ventilators and PPE from suppliers in the UK desperate to do business and then buying tons of PPE from Turkey and the country that used to be called Burma.

Looks like a complete mess that has probably contributed to unnecessary deaths.
Hancock trying to maintain a line that everything is OK, whilst thousands of good people don't have the kit to protect themselves.
British companies ready to manufacture items ignored, phone calls not returned. He tried to dodge that one by mentioning 'not dealing with middle men'. Individual trusts have been successful by cutting UKGov out of the loop and dealing directly with British suppliers. This is a national disaster. A grovelling apology is the appropriate response to those who are putting themselves in harms way, not this arse covering bullsh1t3.

The order from Turkey had only JUST been placed when they said that it was being held up by “ Logistical Problems”. You couldn’t make it up.

I don't disagree that there have been cock-ups. I'm just being pedantic by saying that it's not been an "Eton Old Boys Jolly Club".

Of the people who have been fronting the No.10 briefings, and leading the campaign against the coronavirus, only Boris went to Eton. The others are:

Dominic Raab - Grammar School
Rishi Sunak - Winchester
Robert Jenrick - Grammar School
Gavin Williamson - Comprehensive
Michael Gove - Robert Gordon's Aberdeen
Priti Patel - Grammar School
Matt Hancock - King's School Chester
Alok Sharma - Presentation College Reading

I haven't checked for other Jolly Boys in the Cabinet - I'm not that pedantic - but the only other one I can think of is JRM.

P.S. I carry no torch for public schools. I would nationalise the lot if I could.

Looks like either a completely disfunctional, chaotic government or a badly thought out cack-handed attempt to lie themselves out of culpability for what is a stupid and deadly decision. This would be very funny if our brave health care workers were not being put in life threatening danger as a result.

Lions lead by donkeys

MH was talking about PPE and I notice the reports were referring to ventilators. I think those wanting to score points have managed to cause confusion.

Turns out that Hancock has shares in an NHS supplier. Wonder if they've been given contracts.

Can I just ask where are 20s comments about a hate filled rant and a lack of compassion on this thread. I'm confused!
