Plenty of references to Johnny Remember Me on the internet, that was 1961 though so I'm thinking you are probably right.
You can't beat a bit of George Formby.

Wasn’t “When I’m cleaning windows” by George Formby also frowned upon.
Hard to believe that songs like “ Tell Laura I love her” ( too disturbing) , “ Hundred pounds of clay ( Religious views) were banned. Think “ Leader of the pack” was too.
Must have been some boring old farts around then.
