The January transfer window rumours thread.

A lot has been made about our shortage of midfielders, as it stands we have Dougall, Connolly and Stewart. It seems both Virtue and Carey aren't a million miles away and will be back in a few weeks. On top of that we have some promising young players who, if we were to secure our position in the Championship early, could be worth giving minutes to, to assess their progress/readiness. I still think we'll bring a central midfielder in but we shouldn't be paying silly money. In Brannagan's case, if they fail again, I'm sure we will be able to sort a deal.

And Robson.

Clubs and indeed players (particularly young ones) very rarely go to the same loan club twice……PL Clubs like them to further their development by sampling different cultures, places, coaching methods, dressing rooms etc

I think a large part is likely they want to see their players moving up the football pyramid, so L1 one season, Championship next and then PL, either in own first team or on loan elsewhere, if the player gets stuck at a particular level, which usually involves returning to the same club, it's likely a sign they've gone as far as they can.

Reports coming out this morning that Brentford are determined to sign Johnson and will smash their transfer record to do so...

Wonder if Forest will budge seeing how close they are to the top 6 and it being so late on?

Could trigger them coming to us late for Bowler.

Maybe, if they lob 4 or 5 million our way. If Kirk joins we'll have a few wide options with Bowler, CJ, Dale, Keshi, Kirk.

That's what I'm thinking; if Brentford get desperate and go all in, Forest would become even more desperate and might be willing to fork over a silly fee.

Think that was last week. We told them 4 Mil or he’s not moving they were around the 1.2 mill mark.

Viking has left the building.

Kirks been doing his media stuff
I thought it was taken from a tweet by Alan Nixon this afternoon (16.40ish 26 Jan)

Assuming we get Kirk, and already have CJ and Dale for the left side of midfield, that's 3 LM players. Is it possible Keshi is going be that creative player we want in central midfield?

Hmm possibly another one then.

I know by last weekend they’d rejected multiple bids from Forest for him as they article says they were miles off the valuation.

Got the impression the 4mill valuation had put it to bed barring Johnson going for 15 mill and 4 million seeming like a drop in the ocean.

Rochdale signed Luke Charman from Darlington recently to replace Jake Beesley. Yesterday he played in a Central League game against Bolton and scored three, got an assist and had a goal disallowed in a 5-0 win! Decent start.
And Rochdale have added another non league striker, Tahvon Campbell from Woking, third highest scorer in the National League. Their forum seems happy with the business they've done, selling Beesley to us and bringing in two in-form strikers from the national leagues.

Brereton-Diaz scored against Argentina tonight in a 2-1 defeat. Wonder if Rovers will hang on to him?!

There was a rumour Nuttall was going to Rochdale.

We need a good midfielder, other players wont be back for 5/6 weeks, in the meantime we need that insurance. It has
to be a player who will walk into the team & impose his influence on our play going forward. Jay Fulton sounds
right but can we afford him ? Left sided centre half wouldnt surprise me 6'4""/5" from who knows. Like others I
think we'll stay up, but would like that re-insurance that we are an acomplished championship side. Not quite
there yet !

But if we are not going to be relegated why not wait till summer?

''If we are not going to be relegated'' Critchley does'nt know that & we dont know that do we. Better to be safe than sorry !

because we are building a side as quickly as possible sensibly mind. We are not tin pot anymore saving wages because we are likely to stay up. we could still make the play offs I have been surprised at how bad some teams are, but if we don't the likes of Brannigan will be bedded in for next season.

The Norburn story with an add on about Morgan Rogers from City.

and an interesting tweet although I can't find The Football Insider story yet.
"Sean McGinlay
@seanmcsport
Oh and just as you thought it was going to get quiet for a second, Football Insider are reporting Bournemouth and Fulham are considering bids for Josh Bowler. "

Rogers is an interesting one, but do we really need another right footed winger? He’s only started once for Bournemouth and it looks like their option to buy him for £12m plus won’t be activated.
I wasn’t that impressed with him in the play off final.
If we sell Bowler than I can see the sense in a loan for Morgan, hopefully we don’t sell though .

"A recruitment source has told Football Insider that promotion-chasing Bournemouth and Fulham are now pushing hard for Bowler ahead of Monday’s deadline."

"They are expected to submit bids for the former Everton youngster."

"although the TANJARINES have the option to extend his deal by another year."

Holy shit spelling Batman!!!

And a bit more.
Sounds like Josh might be good for a goal this afternoon.

Blackpool are eyeing up a raid of their Championship rivals AFC Bournemouth for young midfielder Gavin Kilkenny before the transfer window closes on Monday night, according to Football Insider.

The thing is we've got a lot of central midfielders already, even with injuries we've got Dougall, Robson, Connolly and Stewart, with Carey, Virtue and possibly Ward to come back, so do we really need another one?

My take is that Connolly is filling in really, putting in a great shift but not the answer longer term in midfield, and I think Robson may go to MKD tomorrow. I think Ward will be released in the summer, probably, and Stewart is an enigma with a portfolio. So to build a stronger side we need a recruitment or two in midfield. But the right people, now or summer.
