The January transfer window rumours thread.

This seems harsh but is spot on. His career has got a fork in the road approaching in January. Him not getting called up to England u-21s is a a blessing in disguise for him. He's got a fortnight to knuckle down in training and in front of Critch to prove he's got the heart and fight for the man's game.
They know what we’re about with Ballard last season. They also will know what Critch did with Simms. If TJJ fails, they know it won’t be from our end.

do you think TJJ might have gone back to Arsenal already? not making the bench and little prospect of game time he might as well go back to training at Arsenal?

Reading FC are about to sign Andy Carroll today. Approved because of the injury crisis at that club. That would be some signing at this level if stays fit.

If that happens, then Reading would have:

Danny Drinkwater (31) (although he's only on loan, no idea if they're contributing to wages etc)
Scott Dann (34)
Junior Hoilett (31)
Andy Carroll (32)

All have been good players with plenty of Prem experience, but they're getting towards the end of their careers and it must be costing Reading a fortune just to be in mid table. On an average crowd only 700 more than ours. You've got to question if that transfer strategy is sustainable for a club of their size.

They are all short term deals. It was their transfer strategy of previous years which has shafted them hence points deduction incoming. Paying wages of £35k a week for Baldock and £40k a week for Aluko is just outrageous. They have since had massive clear out so would suggest they are on the straight and narrow and sympathy from EFL because their injury list is outrageous.

Drinkwater - i understand they are capped at £8k a week with Chelsea paying £132k - ouch.

Found to be in breach of FFP and the only debate is on the size of the punishment, yet can still sign players on that kind of wage. EFL.. Not fit for purpose.

Thing is with Reading FC they are one of the wealthiest clubs in the division. No debt, but just how they spent their money. They would be in danger if their owner walked but suppose you can say that about any club.

It would be great to bring Simms back in any form but would be a real statement of intent if it was on a permanent deal. I'd be gutted to see Stirling go back, he is an absolute unit and a great player, hopefully Critchley can find a way of keeping both happy.
Agree about Sterling, Newbury.
It's great to have at least two strong players at each position, for injury cover and competition for places, but Chelsea will probably want more game-time for Dijon.
Hopefully we can work something out.
Clutching at straws here, but the current situation might be character-building and help prepare Dujon for life in the big-time, where player rotation and the pressure to firstly earn, then retain the shirt are a part of Prem. life.

Another one currently doing the rounds.
"Swansea City, Blackpool and Barnsley have all been in contact with Manchester City over the availability of Tommy Doyle as he struggles for game time on loan with Hamburg"

Norbert Pimmelkopf a striker from Austrian team FC Fotze. Fox in the box type who has poked home 15 this season from close range.

Critch on the VIP list god bless his cotton socks
With ex-Liverpool man Mike Marsh linking up with Ryan Lowe at Nob End I wonder if we'll be competing for the same players who are available on loan in January?

Hopefully Sir Critch’s more recent affiliation with LFC Klopp and the players will help.

Not convinced Simms will come, Wintle on a permanent deal and another goal scorer wether that be a striker or a number 10

Simms is definitely on the wanted list and if Santa can get him down the chimney he will be coming home.
Factamundo.
I think that's pretty obvious and I will be surprised if he isn't the first signing on day one of the window. I agree we should try and sign Wintle, maybe loan to the end of the season with a deal in the summer?

If we can sort those 2 out then we HAVE to get a creative midfielder and I really hope we have someone lined up, be they a loan or a signing, but if we fail on that then we have failed for 2 years, with the exception of Carey, who deserves his chance sooner rather than later.

All depends on who goes out on loan/transfer, may be a surprise we let a popular figure leave.
3 players need to come in IMO.

Can I just start by saying we don't need youngsters! We need someone who can put their foot on the ball and be a bit more aggressive and attack minded than what we currently have which generally rules out Prem Academy players.

Bit of a garbled article on Dale.

Yeah, the obstacle being he isn't very good and not worth £50k.... £500k!!! You're having a giraffe!!

Send him back and get someone decent.

We haven't tried Apter yet, he can't be any less successful.
The latest speculation on Rob. Whilst this would be an excellent move for him, assuming they will play him, I'd still like to see him get a start against Hartlepool before letting him go.

If Simms becomes available there will be big competition from T’Rovers! He was there as a youngster, and if they sell Bremerton-Diaz for big money would be interested in signing him!

Marvin has to be priority. I don't like the sound of Wardie's injury, I hope he fully recovers and gets an extension. Moore is worth an extension as is Demi and Bowler. I would be surprised if we let Gretarsson go, but he can't get near the team for some reason/ Keogh will be 36 next year, can't see him staying, maybe a coaching role? Sarkic & Howe will be gone, not sure about Nuttall but can't see him staying. Keshi has to be another priority and I thought Gary Goals had another year left? I would certainly give him another year.

Surely Moore needs to move on as NC doesn’t rate him. Not gonna get a starting berth anytime soon. Only gonna make the bench as Maxi is out.

We have to have 3 keepers and to have one as good as Moore surely it would be foolish to let him go? If the lad wanted to move and got an offer of a club who will play him as their first choice then that's different and good luck to the lad.

I agree re 3 keepers, I’m just surprised he’s not wanted to move on.

Agree with most of that but Madine needs to prove he can stay fit and score/assist a lot more to be worthy of another contract.
Sorry for Ward as he was improving every match but with Stewart also regularly crocked we cannot afford 2 players in a, key position who rarely play
