The loan market and our squad

How much difference is there between L2 and National League? Not all that much AFAIK, but I could be wrong.

Is it worth sending him to NL until at least January, which gives the club more control, and maybe trying to get him a slot in L1 for the second half of the season?
Does it give us more control? Youth loans give control as they only run for 28 days and players can still play for their home team in limited circumstances which I think includes reserve games.
That couldn't happen at League level because Clubs have to name a squad.
Not sure what the rules are at National League level.

Rule 6.6.4 for the National League:

Youth Loan Transfers apply to:-
• Contract Players aged 20 or under on 1 July immediately preceding the Playing Season in question;

since he's only 19 now he'll qualify for a youth loan both this year and most of the next, and although they run for a minimum of 28 days they can be extended indefinitely.

The advantage is that he can continue to train at BFC, at least part time, and participate in non-first team games, and if it goes wrong we can always bring him back and send him elsewhere.

Thanks for that 👍.
However what tends to happen if the Club that the player is loaned to train full time the loanee trains with them.
If they are part time they fill in their week back at BFC.

I'm actually in agreement with you on this one Phil. That's quite a few inexperienced players who benefit us in the short term if they work out, not so much if they don't.
Another permanent would be great but only if we can get someone better than what we have. We've not yet lost anyone which is great and as players come back from injuries they will see like new signings.
Lastly I'm fully expecting to see Apter, Moore and possibly one or two more of the young lads to be much more involved in and around the squad than we saw last year. It's all progression😁
This time last year we were bemoaning the lack of loanees as we were 'missing out on quality '.

Now we're bemoaning getting players in.

First World problems.

I think we were blaming Critchley for ** about with the team all the time

Reece James in Central Midfield ffs

True enough Wizz but there's plenty of positive in my post too about having a decent squad from last season and not having lost any of our better players yet.
Of course I realise that the loan system is here to stay and has its positives. I just don't happen to like it.
As it goes I think we re in better shape for a new season for many a year, youngest squad for years too. Have I partially redeemed myself yet? 😁

Josh is the key in this…… He stays and we will finish top 10, but not sure we will have enough experience playing together and with the new system to make the playoffs. I think if we were to lose Josh we would still have enough to stay up. This is where the owner has a dilemma….. what offer would letting Josh go will be a better return than finishing higher up the league. I’m think 3m otherwise keep him, unless we could get someone lined up who could replace Josh at a lesser price than we receive….. little chance of that.

Bust a gut to get him to sign even a short deal with good bonus and a good release clause to suit all parties would be the ideal

Not a fan to be honest as they aren't our players and go back to their parent clubs

It's just moving the problem for another year

I know people will mention Forest and how they used good loans to get promoted but its cost them millions to replace those loans

I think maybe one or two are OK but we have 4 now with talk of another coming in next week

It doesn’t look like much forward planning to me

Btw I do like the look of Fiorini and the Arsenal kid, less sure on the nobber and the tall bloke from Wolves who couldn't trap a bag of cement against Reading

Anyway still need a right back ASAP and we still don't know if Bowler is going, for me keeping Bowler for another season is a better bit of business than any of the loans we have brought in

I'm starting to like the look of what Appleton is doing especially in midfield where he is trying to get more footballing players in the centre of the pitch instead of the Critchley defensive set up

Long way to go but hopefully a couple more in on permanent deals and we can kick on

Looking forward to Stoke on Saturday, will be interesting to see who starts
🤡🤡🤡🤡

How can you complain about the best teams in the world sending us their best new players? Such an exciting time.

We get to see players we would never be able to sign in a million years.

Agreed it's not looking to the future but with the investment in the east stand and training ground it's where we're at this season.

Fiorini was the best player on the pitch at Reading, Patino looks a beast and the Wolves lad was voted best under 23 player in Canada.

This board just moans for the sake of it. I hope SS & BM take no notice.

UTP!
