The new Alba party

It supports his narrative that Sturgeon is too comfortable being FM of Scotland, with England there for all blame, and healthy financial contributions for her to screw up, and so doesn't really want Independence. Not sure that is reality outside his and his mates little world, though.

Impact on the election? The only votes he can take are from other Pro Independence parties, ie SNP and Greens, he must believe there are loads of Tory and Labour voters just waiting for the Messiah's return

I suspect he's hoping to hold the balance of power and use that exact revenge on Sturgeon and Co.

It seems like he is hoping to

It's going to spice things up a bit. SNP won't get many list seats if they do well in the constituencies. So Alba are more likely to damage the greens.

I see gorgeous George has thrown his very stylish but probably corruptly gained hat into the ring in a pro union cause to directly take on Salmond.

Allegations and counter allegations between him and Sturgeon so one, or both, are lying and they simply walk away Scot free (like the pun)
If Sturgeon is re-elected then once again her priority will be another referendum on independence. But, she needs to be careful because I am sure there will have been quite a few of her supporters who voted against independence the first time round and will be disappointed in her obsession with this issue.
Where is the democracy in all this? People vote so it should be accepted; exactly as the Brexit vote.
My personal opinion is that they have had a fling but neither would bring it up because of the damage the revelation would cause.
I don’t get where Salmond is coming from either. History shows that new parties don’t get anywhere unless of course the Scottish people have had enough of Sturgeon and her antics.

The biggest surprise though is that we have a political thread and the Cat in the Hat hasn’t yet joined in and blamed the Tory party for all the shenanigans!

Still time though.

Salmond Vs Galloway will be box office stuff. Then no one will vote for either of them.

Why don’t you focus on writing less of your own crap and give us all a rest

The greens get their seats by virtue of their cushy agreement with the SNP that provides them with an effective outright majority. It’s this that Salmond wants to affect. Knock out the greens and make life difficult for everything bar independence related issues.

Although the first MP has today defected to Alba so it could be a bit of an SDP style breakaway we are seeing aswell. Double trouble for Krankie and Co.

The Conservatives and Labour parties both colluded to force out the Layton Popular Front at one point,so I've some experience of this nonsense.

Not too bothered about the Jockeroos but democracy has to be served, and of course freedom with independence for Laytonians everywhere.

Cheers😁 It cropped up years ago with a proud Scotsman I worked with who took the day off to watch 'em play Australia in a final World Cup play off.

I think that would have ticked all of Bazbobs boxes...😉

Is it right a Second SNP MP has defected to the new party?

Politics seem to be getting a bit lively North of the Border.
Yes. Alba now have twice as many Westminster MPs as Scottish Labour. A few more high profile* defections from the SNP too.

*in Scotland only.
