The next two home games

I think we were all desperate to be in the mix this season and there is no doubt we have the players who can achieve that but do we think the start to the season will prove a costly experiment or actually have we still not shown that we are capable of dominating but also winning games?

Two home games and a potential 6 points would put us on 10 points from 8 games - still a mile from where we want to be but at least it would show promise. Charlton 15th, MK Dons 19th - neither pulling up trees and so let's see where we are after that.

Charlton won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2 - only scored 4 but only conceded 5 - seem like most League One teams who do the old smash and grab.

With so many untested players and so many changes in the squad, as well as a rookie manager, I think the premise that we would 'walk this league' was misplaced. But that was partly fuelled by the club saying they were going for promotion. We should have that ambition but it should have been moderated with a commentary that it would take some time to build a develop a squad capable of going up.

With so many changes it was was likely to take some time to get things right. Whilst there were some green shoots yesterday it could easily have also resulted in another defeat. And NC's normal patient passing game was leading to virtually no chances on goal, especially when the ineffective Hamilton was double marked most of the game. We need to be much quicker going forward and get more players in and around the box. And we need to drastically improve the quality of our crosses, set pieces and corners.
As it stands, I would settle for a top half finish and consolidation this year
