Just thinking about Tony Weston - is there an example of another player (whether they went on to do something or not) who you felt we let go too quickly and who could have really progressed with us?

Richard Lambert.
I'll go a bit left field and say Richie Wellens. I know he couldn't stand Henry - he was very much a McMahon man - but had he grudgingly hung around he could have been Grayson's captain in the promotion season.
I can agree with you both on that. a proper class player.I always remember losing him to Oldham and thinking... "Oldham, really...". I thought he'd go to someone a lot bigger.
Blackpool lad as well iircBarkhuizen

I'd go for Pat McGinley as well . He went on to play for Hibs and Celtic when we could really have done with him . Rickie Lambert and Richie Wellens absolutely !Blackpool lad as well iirc
Regarding Tony Weston I really don't think it's a case of the club letting him go . He couldn't actually sign a professional contract with us till he turned 17 . If he goes on to have a great career, which hopefully he will, it will still be pretty painful knowing we were his first club.Trevor Sinclair. We should have got another season from him. The Oystons couldnt wait to get him to QPR and take the money.
But maybe that'll come back to benefit us somehow... wishful thinking maybe.... but maybe!Regarding Tony Weston I really don't think it's a case of the club letting him go . John Lundstram
Agree and disagree.Tilt (no I don't expect everyone to agree).
Is he Dion Charles brother?Darius Charles at Accrington looks a real player too - had a good season last year.
Identical twins I thinkIs he Dion Charles brother?
Beat me to it.Emlyn Hughes
Identical twins I think
I'm pretty sure we could've signed him at the time but opted not to because he was dump! Not sure how you can let a loan player go?

That's a bit extreme but he was a very talented lad who could easily have stayed another season and could have got more for him. Decent business for LiverpoolBeat me to it.
Spoke to a cleveleys family 20 years ago .
Massive Liverpool fans .
Bought season tickets at Anfield the day Emylyn moved there.
Never been Blackpool fans since.
Good shout, did he not score 20 odd goals in a season from midfield for Huddersfield.Chris Beech was one we probably let go to soon as well. Agree that Rickie Lambert was the biggest error.
Telford?Lambert, Barkhuizen, Telford, Bright Samuel
Not pulling up trees. But I’d have liked to have seen a product of our academy come through and go on to have a solid career in League Football at Bloomfield Road rather than anywhere elseTelford?
Not exactly pulling up trees is he?
Agree the others
