The Player you expected to be great .. but never was!

Just read a comment about Danny Philliskirk - a player that I never really watched bar a couple of times at away grounds - but genuinely thought he would bag a good 20 goals a season for us.
Recently I did think Ethan Robson was going to be a great signing 🙄

I think we all knew we had better than Nixon sat on the bench, good to see Banksy on the pitch at the end of the play off final, a nice little bit of karma.

I honestly thought Andy Reid was going to be ok until I saw him 'warming up'.

Phil Barnes... always loved him when he played for us. Can't fault him in that department. But I always thought he'd go on to play at a higher level... I was only young at the time in my defence!

Yep I'd also say Tom Ince . . . always thought he'd be good enough to become an England regular.
Weird how as fans we see players differently. I always thought he was a solid championship player... but thought he had far too few tricks in his bag for the kind of player he was to go further than that

Tommy Sermanni. He was described in the Gazette as " the new Tony Green" when he signed. Of course it turned out he was'nt anywhere near that good.

Brian Griffiths…….tore us a new one every time he played here for Wigan

David Perkins…….ran the show here for Barnsley,

neither reached the same heights in Tangerine

Danny Coid was magnificent when on peak form.

Unfortunately, he was plagued by injuries. One prolonged one was caused, apparently, by him running into a heavy roller on the training ground. 😬

With his Man U pedigree I thought John O'Kane was going to be great.

With the benefit of hindsight he'd be getting help for mental health issues.

Ciarian Donnelly for me, saw him make a very impressive appearance in the LDV / Sherpa Van / Paints away at Mansfield, thought he was going to be brilliant for us, but never broke through

Shocked no one has mentioned Mike Sheron yet. Absolutely handed us our backside for Barnsley then signed and was completely mediocre.
Irc Sheron actually played well but just missed almost every chance he got. He looked class but didn't actually have any impact.

What Spirit said about Sheedy. Class player, with a wand of a left foot for those of a certain disposition. Massive disappointment here.

Junior Bent. As a right winger for B City looked dangerous and skillful, ripped Liverpool a new one. I know he was played wrong here (centre forward, for Christ's sake!), but even when playing wide never looked the same.

He did score a screamer at the Wendies in the AutoFreightRoverWindscreensPapaJohn Cup semi-final.

Curtis Tilt, seemed to have everything in his locker, then Rotherham(😄)came calling, completely turned his head and things were never the same again.

Sergei Aleksandrovich Kornilenko.
The Belarusian international forward, played 6 times in the Prem for us, on loan, but never scored.

David Perkins and Daniel Nardiello based on their performances against us before they joined

Stuart Green

Most recently, Sarkic was the signing I was most excited about last summer... probably because he was one of the only ones I'd heard of, but also as he was one of the only ones with decent experience in league one
