The Return of the Nut

No room in the squad for him until January at the earliest.
Don't know how this affects the wages cap?

Curle seems to be over-emphasising the state of his mental health which suggests this may be something he has suffered from previously, which wouldn’t completely surprise me.

Wondered why he wasn't playing for Northampton, didn't realise he was injured.

Feel for him there, was hoping he'd find some well needed confidence at Northampton. I'm sure this has left him more than frustrated.

Was he supposed to be there until Jan or for the full season?
That article doesn't read as if the loan has been terminated, just that he has returned for rehab.

I do feel sorry for the lad. Got rather over the top abuse from some of our lot and if he is struggling mentally then an injury could really tip him over the edge. I hope he gets looked after.
I’m definitely with you on this. The poor fella was brought in at the worst possible time. Had some right stick.

He is still only young so hopefully a quick recovery. I want this lad to bang goals in for fun wherever he is, hopefully for us next season!

The problem with him was that he just didn't look interested or like he was working hard for the team

Yates can't score either but at least he runs about a bit

Minimum requirement.

I can’t really disagree with that. It would be interesting to see how his attitude changed and how he would play somewhere else given totally different circumstances.

The way I read the article was he had returned for recuperation after an operation. Presumably to return when fit. You can read what you want into the mention of mental state (which was apparently ok) I've no qualms about him being successful elsewhere, but he came to Pool with expectation rightly or wrongly & it didn't happen.

Have to agree his body language didn't help him.

We just didn't play to his, or hardies strengths. They wanted the ball playing in from of them but the tactics remained the same as if gnando was still on the pitch.

Could be the wake up call or reality check he needed. He started of in the Youth system at Man City and then went to Blackburn and apparently did well in their U-23 team. Maybe he had the physique to bully defenders at that level but for whatever reason just did not show any real potential last season. I think everyone loves a trier, remember what Brett Ormerod had to go through, so maybe he will rediscover the spark to re-ignite his career.

Everyone’s quite rightly making a big deal out of mental health during Covid. I wouldn’t read anything into it other than that. Unprecedented times.
