The Robson love-in

I’ve watched six games so far, 4 league plus Barrow and Southport and I’m not really getting this.

He played well against Plymouth, hit the cross bar against Swindon, picked up a booking for petulance against Gillingham and hardly got a mention against Lincoln

Is it just that he hasn’t made any obvious mistake or is there more to it than that.

Would anyone care to explain

Not gonna bite!

I like Robson. He's a neat and tidy player in that deep midfield role. I wouldn't mind seeing him higher up the pitch though. He was played in a more advanced role (forgot who the opponent was) and he was the best player on the pitch by a mile. I think he's wasted in the deep midfield role.

He's a quality player not sure he's the 6 that NC thinks he is
Still think we are lacking one specialised midfield player to help him

We’d be even more wide open and exposed without him in the team than we have been. I like him and he will be the engine room every successful team needs to keep things ticking over, and appearing out of nowhere with the odd goal or defensive tackle

He doesn't get me jumping off my chair, but that's probably a positive as most of the players are better known for mistakes, giving pens away or sendings off. He doesn't do much wrong, which is good thing at the moment.

You obviously dont watch the games

Robson has played well in every match so far. But like with all the other players we've signed, we haven't played enough games to form a valid opinion. Based on these few games, he's been composed, always available for the defence to play out, generally has a good first touch, and has kept it simple. Which is exactly what he's there for.
I don't think we've found the right combination of midfielders to compliment him yet. It's a shame Virtue has been injured - he isn't a world beater (though I do rate him), but he offers different attributes to Robson and my gut feel is that they might work well together.

I've just got my head round what 10 means in modern parlance ( inside left in my day). So, what's a 6? If it's a 'hard as nails left half' I' m with you.

He has a very underrated role, against Swindon Grant was the link between their defence and midfield, everything went through him. About 15-20 mins into the game Robson was suddenly all over him and for me, that was one of the reasons we were able to get onto of them.

None of the current midfielders take the ball and run at the opposition , we pass short to one another but seem to lack confidence in the build up play.

Don't bite, he's a wind up merchant

No you miss the point, NC plays him as a holder it doesn't mean thats his best position
I never said it was his best position, I said if he was in our team with Virtue, Virtue would be the one bombing forward not Robson......because, in our team, he's a holding midfielder.

His best position is a moot point in this context.

I would love to see one of those charts which monitors players movement during games to see exactly where some of our players are playing and where they should be playing! Still not sure we've got that quite right!

Youd think wed got Bryan Robson in his pomp.....

Correct Spiderman.
Robson replaced Lubala in the 80th minute against Accy, so perhaps he can be forgiven for doing feck all in the first half.
