I don't think anyone would disagree that the team is a work in progress. Wimbledon isn't an attractive away fixture (aside from the quaint terraces) and it wasn't a vintage performance, but it wasn't awful either. The main thing I took away was what a pleasure it was to watch Connor Ronan in action. He stood head and shoulders above the rest ..... if only he was 'ours' .... 😒

I've been watching Pool since the early 70's and across that period there have been consistent lows, with a couple of remarkable highs. This will be Simon Sadler's experience too. I was was staunchly NAPM, due to the ignorance and stupidity of the Oyston regime. I wouldn't have minded them taking a large chunk of cash back IF they had established the reasonable legacies we expected following the EPL rollercoaster. They were lower than pond life, and Ollie ... well he should have kept his daft mouth shut and enjoyed his hero status.

So back to our saviour Simon Sadler. Why would anyone spend their hard earned ££££ on a football team. Status? Well perhaps some ... To make a 'return' on their money? Perhaps in Mike Ashley's case, but Blackpool ... don't make me laugh. He's bought it because no one else could be trusted with it. To protect a club that is precious to us all, and has been a mainstay throughout all of our lives. To improve it on and off the pitch and to make a difference to people's lives.

I hope he treats the moaning of a small part of our fans with the same pinch of salt that most of us do. They don't know how lucky we are.

Onwards and upwards, I look forward to seeing where we are in 5 years time.

UTMP.

We all love a good moan, wasn't all that long ago we were moaning about Oyston. Sadler is in it for the long haul let's hope we all back him.

I'd agree with that, Ronan is a pleasure to watch and if we keep him happy and he progresses, will hopefully give us hope of getting him for the full season in the summer. At least we are now out playing teams and have some form style to our play. Clearly confidence is low and we are sadly lacking upfront. Madine had a decent first half but faded in the 2nd. Delf looked like he had the beating of his man but will never be a centre forward, he just lacks that ruthlessness.

Just been looking at the thread "Old Pics" and mentally remembering all the happy and rotten days I have had at Broomfield and then I came across your thread. Well said , you have summed it up perfectly

I think when we get a manager in and he gets his feet under the table that's when the Sadler football project will start to kick in as the infrastructure project has already begun . So after a false football start this season I'm confident we'll be onwards and upwards next season!

This season has always been about providing a bit of stability whilst the rebuilding process begins. That’s why the appointment of Simon Grayson was to me a good one, someone who knew the club and with a good track record and someone - for the most part - still popular with the fans and good contacts in the game.

I’m sad it didn’t work out for him this time and also sad that some of our fans became so bitter and twisted about it and seem to be pinning blame on one or two of our players for not being Charlie Adam or David Vaughan or for that matter DJ Campbell.

The main thing for this season was not to get relegated, I’ll stick my neck out and say we won’t as this was probably the one season where we almost had a free hit. A good start to the season (as per the Ince season) means it should be enough to keep our head above water.

For Simon Sadler this will have been a rude introduction to the world of football club ownership. In a way if it had all been too easy and we were sat comfortably in the Play-off placed he may have been forgiven for thinking “well, this is easy” - but its not and he’s had to find the courage to make a decision about the man he appointed and may think twice about panic opening his cheque book to buy his way out of “trouble”.

A steep learning curve for Sadler then, but hopefully one he surmounts, so it’s no wonder he’s not rushing - or being rushed - into making his next managerial appointment and will be taking all the advice and getting all the feedback he can.

The next guy will perhaps have the luxury of a few games before the end of the season to take stock of the players he has and to work with them and his Chairman to identify where strengthening is required and where the dead wood needs chopping.

Patience is required all round, from owner and fans, lets put this season to bed, finish as strongly as we can and make sure we don’t get dragged into anything stupid and get ready to go again next season when everyone will have learned something from this season.

There had to be at least some progression. We never came near relegation last season, in fact we were well in with a chance of the playoffs with 10 games to go without SS's investment. MacDonald wasn't the man long term but Grayson was a disaster.

Rather than a sound appointment, hiring the declining Grayson sucked.

It has brought insecurity, not stability.

"I’m sad it didn’t work out for him this time and also sad that some of our fans became so bitter and twisted about it.."

Fans like me who warned not to pick Larry have every reason to criticise.

"The main thing for this season was not to get relegated..."

Unless supporters reject such paltry ambition, the club will continue to sag.

Football is a distraction from life. It's not up to supporters to 'demand success' with bulging eyes and rabid frothing mouths.

You can't subdivide football into neat 'winners' and 'losers' categories based on the ambition of the support.

look at Citeh for example. They didn't 'demand success' for years. Just bobbed along, going up and down then a bolt of lightning from the middle East brought it.

Chelsea, the same.

Is Wycombe's success this yeae down to the demanding supporters?

Have Burnley spent 5 years in the top flight because our 4 fingered friends are more demanding than say the Massive or Dirty Leeds? (I suppose Mrs Mullen might think so tbf)

Everyone can have an opinion but ** hell, how long are you planning to dine out on your 'warning' Paulco?

Who is your pick for next manager?

I agree with everything said here. Promotion was never the aim this season and things have to be assessed. New manager in whenever they’re ready to appoint and new players in early as possible at the end of the season ready to all be involved and gel in pre season so they are all ready for the new season and kick on from day one of next season for a real automatic promotion push. Onwards and upwards UTMP
