The Stadium

Yep I get that... They've become a necessary evil now and It's just what Clubs do.. In fairness, I've been up there on a few occasions and it's not as bad as all that really... More often than not, just normal supporters taking the opportunity to go on the lash, rather than stuffy business folk.

I think safe standing might be a reasonable shout though... I just can't be arsed standing up for a whole game any more as sad as that sounds...
The problem with safe standing is that it removes the capability of telling a steward to fuck off if they ask you to sit down. Without that, I'd fear for the modern fan.

Very good point strappers... In fact I was only discussing that very subject over a few beers the other night.

Not about Stewards, but instead those odd folk who choose to sit themselves on the back row of a stand (or as near as damn it) and then proceed to moan about the people standing up in front of them.

I’d like to think I’d never reach that point of curmudgeonlyness, however yesterday I found myself grumbling about the quality of the Fish Counter at Booths in Lytham.... So who knows...It’s a slippery slope

Tell me about it...My local butcher has not had pigs cheeks on offer for the last 2 weeks. You have to ask whether they're motivated as a small business.

So how many of you would invest millions into something without guarantee it will bring in any extra revenue or even be used? There were games when we were in the Championship pre premier League where we struggled to get 5000 home fans.

Booths aren't good at fish. A proper fishmonger is needed.

Completely agree with the opening post. What we have at the moment is more than big enough for our crowds. Anyone who has sat in the JJB or Deepdale when it's half empty can attest to the impact a stadium tgat is too large has on the atmosphere.

When the current East was built it was to a design which could lead to it being made a permanent structure. There were many links to this posted at the time if the struts were removed and the roof converted to a cantilever then that would be a huge improvement. I quite like it being different to the other three sides as it gives the ground a focal point. Once we get 9000 plus in our ground the atmosphere is brilliant it makes sense to me to see what our attendances are like before we spend money we don't need to, after all our immediate priority is staying in the Championship.

Again. You’re comparing apples and oranges. Also that was 15 years ago almost. A lot of things have changed. I doubt with Sadler in charge now we’ll ever see a sub 5k gate again.
Ambition can do a lot to a club.

Yes I myself am stuck in the tinpot mentality of football 50 years ago if I'm being honest. I don't like modern stadiums, all the corporate speak, Luke Garbutt's hair do (the big ponce) and all the nonsense on tinternet.

Bring back terraces, Bovril, Tony Green and The Green. It was miles better. The world has gone to shit. And it's all down to the corporate fuckwits in my opinion. And now fans are speaking the same gruesome speak. 🤣
Bring back terraces.........will be phase 1 then, Voy?
Stage 2: National Service and ‘Izal‘ toilet paper.
Stage 3:

One of the reasons to improve the stadium is for commercial reasons beyond football...concerts and what not. I have maintained for many years the North West is crying out for another large music venue to cater for all of the towns around us.
Having lived in Manchester for a decade and seeing many gigs there both small and large I have to agree... it feels like Manchester is the closest place with decent size (and quality) venues for gigs.

I know there are other places that are perhaps a little closer but they always seem to be lacking something. Be it facilities or accessibility without a car. Bloomfield could make a decent venue for the whole fylde and perhaps a little bit beyond imo.
