The summer transfer rumours thread.

Over a week and no one signed yet? Not a single ITK er in sight 👀 No cars seen, no footballers seen wandering round the Pleasure Beach.
Don't panic Captain Main waring, Don't panic 😳😊

And wouldn't it be great to have them both on loan next season too. We would have had no chance of getting either if we hadn't got promotion.
Absolutely. When you think we got 2 prem players - one an established International and the other scoring huge number of goals for a T10 Prem team academy that’s normally Championship level clubs that they are going to.

Think recruitment will be a lot slower this Summer for multiple reasons.

1)

We don't need as big of a Summer overhaul as we did last season, we already have a solid core of 15~ so realistically we only need to bring in 5-6 players on permanents with another 2-3 on loan.

2)

Every player we're going after is going to have options so we'll have to fight off interest from a lot more clubs. Last Summer we made great business and found multiple hidden gems in CJ, Marvin, Viking, Yates, etc. but we really didn't have to compete with anyone for their signatures. This summer that won't be the case.

From what I remember (and correct me if I'm wrong) haven't most of our signings under Critch been completely off the radar till they're announced?

As a result I'm not gonna get too excited about names mentioned... I'll just wait for the names to start rolling in!

correct.

I think the one that slipped out and became common knowledge was Yates.

Not seen us linked but saw Joe Hardy (22 yo striker) was released by Liverpool, scored a goal every 2 games in the premier league 2 last season, you’d think Critch would be all over someone like that - low risk

We definitely had to compete with other clubs three of those players, strongly in fact.

We had to compete with Swindon Town for Jerry's signature, but that was it.

Who were we competing against for CJ Hamilton, Marvin Ekpiteta, and Viking's signature?

For example, Millwall, Luton Town, and Stoke City are all interested in Allan Campbell.

The players we want to sign (young with lots of potential) are going to be hot hot commodities and we are going to have to battle with A LOT more clubs for signatures than we did last Summer.

My knees are knocking when I see we are competing with Luton, Millwall, and Stoke all 3 on a natural slide downwards. Stoke shouldn’t be but any team that rated fall down Thompson leaves a lot to be desired. We hopefully will be following the Brentford,s Peterborough, and Bournemouth model and polishing unknown young diamonds

True. There's a fair chance that once names are mentioned we'll have to Google em up to find out who they are anyway

All 3 on a natural slide? Not sure where yougot that made up fact from.
They finished from 11 to 14th! Luton certainly improved on last season, Stoke and Millwall both had a stronger second half of season
That said they re all poop holes whilst we re beside the seaside with good fresh air all about. Any aspiring young player would be a mug not to sign for us, 😁

i watched briefly some games and he looks on the mold of jerry and he's 2 years younger so its a double bonus. My concern really is that in those games i was watching, i got the impression that it's a less physical league than the championship, is it?

I’m sure NC will know all about lots of the players being release by big clubs, especially LFC, but might depend what critchley thinks of his, or any other players, character? It seems we’ve so far tried to go for characters as much as ability, which some other clubs could really learn from I think.

edit to say, I’m not disagreeing, he sounds like the sort of player I’d hope we’re looking at.

I think the point is they are both a similar level and players can come over and do very well. The transfer fees are often less as well.
they'll do well because there's alignment between the recruitment team and Critch, so when they come, they'll have a role to play, space and oportunity to develop and clear instructions for said development.

Surely we should be following the Colchester model that Karl was so keen on

Here's one that's been mentioned before, Allan Campbell from Motherwell.

I’m of the impression that A Campbell is a tough-tackling, defensive midfielder: Stewart and Dougall territory. But if you can tell me he is more of a KDH, then I’ll get my fingers and toes crossed.

Let us be even handed on this and add the names of Everton academy as well, also Critch worked with Brenda Rodgers as well so maybe he will help us get KDH if he is not top 6 Prem level
Good shout tangy I know Brenda well I only spoke to her last Thursday in the swan in kirkham & she reckons we’ve a good chance of getting him on loan next year- obviously the final decision comes down to her husband
