The Summer Transfer Thread - Part 2.

This possibly ties in with a conversation a mate had with a current player yesterday. When asked if Jerry was coming he said it was very doubtful, but he did say that the club had a deal lined up for a loan /possible permanent for a forward who was currently overseas with his club.

This is kind of what I meant when I said going for someone younger and with potential to develop, someone new for us to see play too and to build that bond, will be a saleable asset if we can get permanently.

Jerry would be decent for us now but is approaching 30 and pace and pressing was always a huge part of his game, that slows down compared to if you were young 20's, but there are some aspects of experience that improve.

Think everybody is getting a bit carried away here. I'd love to be proven wrong, but there is absolutely no chance we would be looking at a permanent deal for Taylor, it would probably require the entirety of that Apter fee.

Arguably performed better than Apter last season (in a worse side), still a year younger and will be getting paid very handsomely by Forest.

A loan would still represent cracking business as long as we saw a good chunk of that Apter money spent elsewhere.

Target phones player he knows at BFC for a bit of inside info. BFC player will probably share that in the dressing room and word gets out although not very often tbh.
You're likely to hear about players leaving.
This generation can't work a phone, it'd be "target WhatsApps unintelligible text speak shorthand/emoji gibberish to player he knows at the club, who WhatsApps it to the player standing next to him..." 🤣

Am I allowed to suggest I’d prefer Taylor on a permanent deal rather than Yates?

(I’d really like both).
I would say this lad on a Permanent if we can, fantastic and already got plenty of experience at 21, would be a similar budget to Yates, we can't have both unless one is a season loan, definitely, Taylor is the one I would prefer as a permanent, both would be crazy money

Surely that article doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know? Obviously Jerry would prefer to stay in the Championship, that's a given.

As for preferring Taylor, if it was a permanent move, yes that would be a better option, but it would quite clearly be a loan.

It’s basically his same article from yesterday regurgitated. He’s probably getting a lot of clicks from Blackpool fans constantly searching Jerry Yates into X.

Look elsewhere, invest in assets that will bring in money again in the future.

If Yates comes available then if possible and if wanted see what happens.

But concentrate on younger up and coming players or maybe someone scoring loads lower down or league 1 and get them.

I think it'll be a permanent one given his experience at this level and the level Forest are now at

We'll get Jerry back in Tangerine after his contract finishes at PKE

PKE...

If your suggesting he goes there, then after that when he's damaged goods and in his 30's comes here, nah, he'd be far slower then too, which was a big part of his game.

Dale would if acquired be an excellent acquisition, however, why is he going so low as L1 — he must be a Championship standard player (erm just like J Yates !)

However, if he did come it’s a statement of intent signing and a massiveimprovememtof where we‘ve been for 2 seasons

At the Mo, I see our squad as a ‚nearly one‘ and our friendly form has been terrible !

From knowing zero about Dale, having watch a video highlights job and from the Wigan fans reactions etc I'd be well happy to get this lad in, either on loan or perm'. It shows we are looking for an 'oven ready' quality striker and this lad will surely prosper under Bruce and co.

Not unless we're paying over £2m for him it won't, which I find very unlikely.
Interesting.

I agree btw, but where does a fee stop being value for a reasonable return. At 2m I can't see us getting massive money even if he does well. Of course there is the cship to change that, but no guarantees of getting then staying there.

I'd say 500k is the max where a good return is practically possible.
