The training ground

So it wasn't today to announce it, nor to announce season tickets.

I don’t get the hold up with the season tickets.

The council can and do sell off land all the time. See Stanley Park down the road.
And covenants can be overturned. Admittedly it’s a right faff, but not impossible as people wrongly assume.

What I can say is that 2 years ago BFC were negotiating with the Council over the price of land for the TG.

Personally I hope it’s not Lawsons Rd as we are already short of public open spaces.

It’s not, from what I’ve been told .

Interesting though that apparently the other night Mansford mentioned the support from Blackpool council for everything they were trying to achieve.

I wasn't there but the guy replied to the post mentioning the training ground announcement due soon, so if it was about that and maybe the east is interesting.

As the only way Blackpool council would be supporting the training ground is if it was in Blackpool. Unless he just meant in general.

Not Garstang Road west as its just outside......

But maybe it would be true if the TG was just outside but talking about the community pitches near Bloomfield Road.....

Don’t councils get equal say on developments close to the boundary? I seem to remember that being an issue for the Oyston housing market development at Whyndyke.

Sunderland have sold around 20,000 and don’t even know which league they will be playing in, we have known for weeks and don’t even know how much they are, bizarre.

Yep very slow on this, have given people less time to get their money and could have done when on a high.

If we do a direct debit option it'll help.

I'm hoping they announce after releasing the clubs master plan with training ground to do it with people even more excited.

Also no increase in price, if anything needs a reduction and go for the higher crowd lower price model, 299 would be perfect.

Its not that much less than the early bird price the 4k got and would only need an extra 1k season ticket holders and with that price you might just get it. Almost impulse buy price and if able to be spread could get many casuals who pick and choose some games on board and attending more.

The Garstang Road West site used to be the home of St Mary’s school so I would assume some kind of public ownership. Surprised it’s never been sold off for housing before now
My old school, St Thomas of Canterbury, back in the day. The plot of land was part of the Cross country course and was very prone to waterlogging. There are pylons to the east and dykes to the north.

But its lawson's field.....

Charlie Adam's.....
Well actually, Lawson’s field is a relatively new.
When I was growing up, it didn’t have a name just “the fields”.
Having said that, there were prefabs on part of the land, fields then “the tip” then “the Mere”.
A fence surrounded the Royal Lancashire Showground. The Zoo, Hotel and part of the golf course was built on this land.

There is a potential problem of community facility. Which council gets priority, do they offer the exact same amount of help and which side are the facilities located ie money making clubtypehouse for rates etc etc.

The Teddy bears have their picnic….
If its not announced soon or this week, then do we assume Mansford has training ground syndrome?

Fast forward to 2027 ' we any closer to that announcement?' Mansford... 'be out in the next couple of days, stay tuned'.

If those weren't his actual words it was certainly something very similar. I think it was virtually his opening comment on the basis it was clearly something attention grabbing and also what we wanted to hear.
@Wizaard might correct me

Yes, that's what I thought. Crosses my mind they'll say something at the Structured Dialogue meeting this week.

Bound to get asked about it.

I remember the training ground was going to be announced "in the next few weeks", last autumn.

Maybe they are tying up any last minute snags, and intending to announce the season ticket and new training ground details together at the same time.

Have said that but that's why I thought announcement Monday, as they need to be on sale asap, as we're way behind other clubs, but wasn't to be.

Awaiting one signature and press release is prepared and ready 👍🏻
Where's this from? Top brass mucker info from the meeting? Just one signature required.... as long as its not someone dragging their heels.....

Whoever it is.....Get it signed and released tommorow. 👍

A good source. I don't claim to be in the know and I don't post things like this but this time the announcement actually is imminent.

Very small increase on ST's to be announced and also a 18-21 bracket to be brought in.

Cheers.

Have said on another thread but I dont think an increase even small is good in this climate.

A nobber answering Phils questions, think he'll end up with egg on his face re the training ground very soon.

Mather family donated Queenstown Park to the town never to be built on, all the council did was put a notice in the Gazette that it was being appropriated,

Most has now been built on.

Is Fridays the day it gets announced? Must be right... just a signature needed.... how hard can that be.... 🤔

The board says they could expect the signature at literally any moment. Could be hours or days. That being said it’s been dragging on for months longer than they had hoped so if it’s just another week or two I’m sure we can live with it ! The fact they admitted to preparing the press release suggests it’s a shovel ready project though 👍
