The training ground

I just did the site on maps, but your right it only equals about 50 acres. The only way to get to 100 is almost the whole damn area in between Blackpool and Poulton..

It does say initially 6 pitches, so maybe they have 'only' made the training ground that big for now, but have bought all the land around it too. They must have.

Here's an eg to get near 100 acres.

Jesus... the sites even bigger....

It's 100 acres with 30 acre strip minefield along Grange Park

The dots for eg at the top of it like each side of a path.... got to be trees.
Existing trees or to be planted? I don't know the area, other than from the car window when passing now and again. Are there any trees over there?

They can't until they've secured the land, and that isn't always straightforward. Today was a major step forward - decision made on best site, and land bought. Things will start moving forward much more quickly now I suspect.
In the press release , I’m sure Mr Sadler said he had worked with the authorities involved to see what they would allow, or words to that effect

Me neither only from looking on maps, but they'll be mostly planted, as they follow paths etc and fit with the design, although there's some already. There is some round the ponds and the dividing line of trees or hedges are already there you can see on the map as the thick green lines.

But have a look on Google maps👍

Yes, I can't believe SS wouldn't have got certain assurances from the council regarding planning permission in all these discussions. All it'll need is a formal submission, which can now be done, and it'll probably get fast-tracked.

Im sure there is a right of way that runs from the alleyway at the bottom of Horsebridge behind Pershore Gardens right across down the side of Baines. But my memory may be hazy on that. It would go right through the middle of the development, I wonder if it would have to be honoured, kept?

Quite right, the development cuts right through a public right of way.

Appalled of FY6!

People said shovel ready, if its likely all been agreed theyll likely get the official application done fairly fast and get started.

I wonder the time frame for completion.....

Exactly, you wouldn’t fork out vast amounts of money for land which you couldn’t use for which it was purchased.
The press release says they’ve exchanged contracts. Not completed.

I imagine the contract is conditional on obtaining planning. So if it isn’t granted BFC can withdraw.

But yes. I imagine it’s been discussed with and a nod given by the Local Planning Authority. In fact that’s what the press release pretty much confirms.

Doubt they'd want people trapsing through, then again if they have to....

Maybe they'll divert them round or maybe its their land now and can do what they want?

I was looking for info about the difference in academy category status, and what cat 2 means, and came across this article which was quite interesting should anyone be wondering. Youth Academy Categories

Great article, thanks for sharing.

"this approach has seen clubs struggle to attract first team players of sufficient quality to retain their place in the division, before being resigned to a relegation dogfight and eventual return to the Championship.

If you’re a player on the verge of a move to the Premier League, about to sign a contract that will see you spend five or six days a week at a training facility, one that’s light-years behind your competitors, just like the previous Burnley set up, would you not be looking at a similar team in the same league, such as Brighton, if all other things were equal? Burnley’s pre-investment academy was probably ranked in the bottom 50 in the country, compared to Brighton’s top 3-5."

What a cretin Karl was.

Not sure that’s right. If you follow the road/lane next to Baines that leads to 22-FP-10. Turn right there onto 22-FP-11 and you’ll follow the new boundary to the training ground to Hodder Way and the play park. Turn left and you’re heading on 22-FP-11 towards Normoss and where our mutual friend grew up.

I don’t think the right of way encroaches on the proposed training ground at any point.

Great news, it still seems unreal after many many years of bare minimum everything. What's not to like. 👍 👍 👍 👍

Should be an interesting drive in for the players etc, through the estate.... surprised there's no road from Garstang Road...

We could do with a drone video once a week or possibly 2 weeks once it starts.
It would make a great time-lapse @LeeCharlesTV do you have any contacts?
It certainly would I am a licensed drone pilot it was me that flew the drone to film the flags and the We Are The Seasiders Banner in the video below but I'm meeting myself coming back filming everything we do I don't think I could commit to it at the moment

He doesn't need any, he has a drone and am sure will do updates.
If I have the time I will gladly film some updates I'm not sure I would be able to commit to filming something every week but agree it would be pretty cool to have a time-lapse but for that you need a camera in a fixed position it would be very tricky trying to film from the exact same position in the sky with a drone every week! it could be done but not as easy as with a fixed camera position

As a “Holy-Joes” Lad, I ran cross country against St Toms & Baines many times on the site.
We also did cross country around Fylde Farm, it was hilarious, might not have been that funny mind, had I not been able to run fast in those days.🤣🤣

Holey = full of holes.

Holy = Spiritually perfect or pure. Separated or set apart from.

St Joe's was probably more holey than holy. 👍

Yeah just a look or two along the journey would be enough. Am sure the club will do something too. But if people want to see the scale, from the air is best.

I knew it wasn't long until this guy was proven to be talking utter horse shit. 😆
He’s just having “fun with himself” on social media, he is best ignored.
Most people on here with “street cred” know each other and don’t mind a difference in opinion and healthy debate.
As an old saying goes “one will never win an argument with an idiot” therefore this particular idiot is best ignored

The path cuts straight through the south eastern side of the development

Brilliant stuff Lee and a man of many tallents.☝❤

Maybe theyll bung in an access road?
100 acres, medical, coaching, fitness and education areas, six grass pitches, one full size artificial pitch and a covered artificial area - but was it good enough for Stanley Matthews!
And that's just 'initially' according to the statement, which means those facilities will likely be added to at some point. 👍
