Theo Corbeanu (Confirmed)

And my Wolves season ticket holder mate reckons he’s a striker. Either way, he’s not the right back or CM playmaker we’re in more need of.
We've put our eggs in the Fiorini and Carey basket with CM I think

Agree we desperately need a RB but there's something not right about the left side of attack.

Keshi hasn't looked right for ages.

You never know with these signings.
We once bought a player from Alloa for christ sake who only managed 5 goals in 68 appearances.
Can't remember what happened to him, he was called Tommy

He had quite the career, he managed to rack up 983 appearances between 10 clubs and retired at the age of 47.

Blackpool sold him to Coventry for £189Th

Sounds very much like an iron that Appleton might have in the fire from league one. Had the shot that led to the equaliser against his team in Feb and he was playing off the left wing that day.

I only saw him as a left footer but when you look at some of his involvement he flips sides quicker than his opponent can keep up with. Like a giant Owen Dale tanked up with red bull.

This time last year I bet you were thinking Josh who ?
Wrong, Josh had played at Championship level with QPR (and Hull on loan) before his big move to Everton, so i had heard of him. Just like i have heard of this lad, from what little I've seen I'm genuinely unsure he's any better than CJ or Dale. Those stats for Corbeanu are less than impressive at 2 clubs who were at the top of L1. Of course I'll judge the lad in tangerine, I just hoped for players who are a little bit more proven.

Aaaah yes I forgot Josh's one appearance for QPR five years ago and his 20 odd games for Hull 3 seasons ago. Personally I knew the name but had no idea his style of play or how good he was, much the same as this guy. However the one time I saw Corbeanu in the play off semi , he very much reminded me of Josh Bowler.

So you're wrong, you assumed I hadn't heard of Bowler when I had. My genuine worry is this lad is going to replace Bowler, if that does happen, it feels like quite a gamble.

You knew the name or you knew he was an outstanding footballer who hadn't made the grade at QPR and Everton, Hull weren't in any rush to sign him. I suggest it's the first, but if it makes you happy, you won ffs.

So the summarize this thread, he's shite because his WIKi stats don't match Ronaldo's, nobody has heard of him, he's our 4th choice target, only ever played in a league we are higher and mightier than and he's a foreigner.
You spent years defending the Oystons and their anti football spending policy, so be honest I will take whatever you say with a very large bucket of salt

Is the Morgan Rogers thing dead then? I see he’s still at City and not been loaned anywhere yet?
Maybe that still hinges on the Bowler sale, I genuinely hope Theo isn't Josh's replacement. He may be fantastic but I haven't watched or read anything to suggest he's ready for the Championship, that to me would be quite a gamble.

There’s only one question that needs to be asked….

“How Much ?”

Anything North of £2M is good business 👍
Nonsense as we simply couldn't replace him with that it would be extremely bad business weekening our team so much whilst improving someone else's squad

Josh was an outstanding young talent, it wasn't a case of not making the grade at QPR, it was a case of Everton spending a fortune on a young player. As for his Hull loan, again I knew about this, do you know why, because I love football and watch and read a lot, probably more than is healthy. You are right in that I probably had similar worries, that would Josh cut it. My initial clumsy point remains, 3 goals, 3 assists at L1 level isn't much different to Anderson, Dale or CJ who all played at Championship level. So, my initial question, is he really any better, stands.

Agreed.

If he isn’t going to sign a new contract, would we genuinely pay c.£2m to effectively loan him for the season? Answer is no.

As it stands though, we have zero creativity without him so regardless of whether he stays or goes, we need more creativity.

All depends, on the face of it £2-3M for a player in last year of his contract is sound business for a club like ours but not if his sale was to cost us our place in this division! Somebody has to weigh this up and make that decision. Thankfully not me.

I disagree…

It doesn’t need to be a ‘like for like’ replacement. You can generally improve the overal balance and quality of the squad.

For a team in our position I’m inclined to think that Bowler is a luxury tbh.

We used to call him Clarence, can't think why, Used to love watching his long, gangly legs and deceptively tricky feet tying many a right back in knots and I watched on from close up at the front of the scratching shed!

Looking at the clips, Theo creates some great positions for himself in the box, but his finishing is weak. Usually side foots straight at the keeper. Needs work on this aspect of his game.

It's not that straightforward is it? Bad business is losing him for nothing.

As a fan I don't want him to go - as you say he's very, very difficult to replace. But the club won't want to lose him for free and he only signed a short term, shop-window deal for this reason. He's probably going.

No one is going to pay what you want for Bowler , he’s had half a good season and is free next year , can’t see him going anywhere until then

Never heard of this Theo tbh , and you thought Parrots stats were poor !

yep, that's bollux. A case of slipping the word "generally" in as your get out clause. If Bowler is quality then you won't improve the quality of the squad by losing him and who else plays on the right flank who's as good as him? So yep, you won't improve the balance either. Bowler ain't a luxury he's a quality player and in a team of limited attacking threat it's something we will miss if we lose him.

All that said, a bit of pragmatism has to come into it as to if we get a decent offer for him then I expect the board will seriously consider it.

We'll agree to disagree, it's all about opinions. After watching Bowler pre season last year, I thought he'd end up on loan at Bradford or somewhere similar. However we all know how it turned out and how his performances grew ( and then fell away ) now he's the one that really creates for us. Start of the season I wish I had a pound for everyone who said " good but no end product "
I've only seen this kid a couple of times and both times he's gone past people for fun, let's hope his end product develops ( as Bowler's has ) with a season in The Championship and decent coaching.

Just to add that assists is a bit of a misleading term, as it's dependent on your work being finished and in the net. Beat three men and put in a diamond of a cross and the striker heads it 10 yards over the bar isn't exactly the creators fault.
But the proof of the pudding and all that.
