This medical malarkey

Still interested to know what Bishop’s medical showed up at Blackpool which it didn’t show up at Portsmouth and of course the great irony in this is the fact we’re being so careful about medicals when it comes to signing players and yet we have 9 players on the treatment table 🙈

It will be medical in confidence so we will not find out unless the player himself tells us. As for Pompy signing him, they are obviously prepared to take the risk we weren't happy with. Deals fall through for medicals all the time, some clubs are just more through than others.

Think it’s more a case of we’re being so careful BECAUSE we have so many on the treatment table. Can’t imagine Simon Sadler likes spending 50k a week to pay players to get massages !!

Perhaps the fact we have so many on the treatment table has not gone unnoticed, and has resulted in a very strict medical

Totally agree. It's good to see that they are applying "lessons learnt" to recruitment and hopefully to other areas of the club. After all, this is what any normal business would do.

Do we know for a fact that Bishop "failed" a medical, or is this just a Twitter rumour that's 99% of the time made up.

I've not seen a post from yourself that's been positive recently. All your post seem either on the negative side or questioning the club in some way.

Did you enjoy Saturdays win and how we started the first half? Which player do you think did well?

Think of a medical as like a survey on a house. It will likely show up on all buyers reports, some will be fine with the risks highlighted, others won't.

The reasons clubs will or won't tolerate the same issue a medical returns could be for a number of different reasons.

1. The medical department's experience dealing with an issue
2. Believing that the overall financial package is or isn't worth taking on the injury risk highlighted
3. The depth a club has in that position

Are all examples that could lead to clubs making different decisions over the same issues highlighted by a medical.

ays it did not show up at Pompey ? It appears we identified an issue that we felt was not worth the risk. Pompey, you would hope, saw the same thing/issue and decided to take the risk. Maybe the fact we have had an appalling injury record since Critch came in says we are right to be a lot more diligent with medicals now and will hopefully sign more robust players (and less injury prone) players going forward.

The club has a limited budget and doesn't want to take chances on players that could be important.

Portsmouth took a greater chance then we did

We only just got rid of Joe Nuttall who was crocked most of his time with us and allegedly cost a fortune. I can see why the club aren't wanting to get their fingers burned again. Strikers are dear and burn a lot of your budget so you really want fit ones.

Could also be that with Madine, Yates, Beesley, Lavery, Lubala on the books it wasn't worth the risk, since Portsmouth only had one CF on the books at the time maybe they were a bit more willing to take the gamble.
