Thoughts on new ITV4 show?

I find them all a bit weird to be honest ever since the lower leagues got their own dedicated highlights show, maybe about 15 years ago now on the BBC with Manish and a few others, who’s only jobs were to read out fans tweets saying the were over they moon with a win. 🤔.

The Quest version was probably the best because of Colin Murray and they tried to do some analysis with those two fellas, but I personally find myself turning off from people who bang on about Xg, it’s the hipster skinny white guava bean oat milk latte of football. 🤮. Behind the data and faux algorithms of Xg it’s still largely someone’s opinion that has been transposed as analytical certainties. You only have to look at how varied different companies’Xg’ can be for certain teams and situations.

Anyway I digress, there’s plenty of online highlights from the clubs themselves and places like Sky to watch at your own leisure and often cut out the guff these shows put in as fillers.

Maybe it’s just me, my old age and having scouted for lower league football and still do it part time for a few amateur sides I watch an inordinate amount of lower league football and just find you can do a better job yourself of watching the highlights and then analysis/ making your own mind up on things than these shows provide.

Sorry a major waffle there, to basically say it’s not very good. 😂

I enjoyed it, a decent show for all three divisions.

I'd heard about the goings on between Bradford and Doncaster, and the sending off in the first half was, to say the least strange and comical. The yellow card for the tackle in the first half should have been a red, as the lad carried off had a double fracture to his leg following the tackle, and the red at the end of the game was deserved.

Format basically the same as quest
Show 3-4 game highlights / goals n discuss.
The presenter seems abit of a tool - certainly a total z lister compared to Colin Murray.
The reporter at Udddersfield training ground piece - embarrassingly bad.

I agree about the xG latte bollocks. 👍

It's all based on human interpretation of humans kicking a ball about and varies from one interpretation to another. And if you have Madine on the end of the chances, for example, some people will expect zero goals and others will expect hat tricks!

I like the football league show, I like it all in one place. I watched the latest one in two sittings, the first half live and the second half on ITV Hub. It gives me some sense at least of how teams through the divisions are doing and who is banging the goals in. I can't be arsed to sit through a 30 second advert on Sky for each game's 90 seconds of highlights, or to find all the individual games on youtube etc. And the banter between goals can be good, if the right people are involved. Colin Murray was born purely to do that job though, and must be reinstated asap!

It’s the exact same minus Colin Murray, which makes it worse as I don’t think this new presenter has the same passion for the EFL as Colin. They have sourced the exact same guest presenters. Sam Parkin this week and Jobi Mcanuff next week.

There can’t be more than 45 minutes of original football highlights in a 2 hour show.

The rest is insipid presenter plus pundit talking over highlights we have already seen once, or adverts.

Exactly right. Can only be watched on recording with all the ads and analysis cut out. Just 45 mins of highlights.

Must confess I only watch it when we win!
Do like to see what everyone else in the Championship is doing - rarely watch the League One and Two stuff.
