Thoughts on today

Today was the most entertaining home game of the season for me. I thought a draw would've been a fair result, the Ipswich fans might say they had a few good chances, but the fact is they only scored due to another poor individual error in defence.

I was going to say Feeney offered very little all game but I guess it only takes a second to make a winning contributing.

Three points:

1. Maxwell should've had MOTM. He made at least two world class saves, and his judgement was miles better than their keeper. I don't care if he's a nobber, he's a great keeper on this evidence.

2. Subbing Ronan for Nuttall was a really gutsy and brave decision by Dunn. Taking a midfielder off for a striker showed a will to go for it and it's great that it paid off. I took the booing as being for the player being replaced, but I think there was some for Nuttall. Why else would there be so much booing for another striker coming on when its level with not long to go. You're kidding yourself if you think there would've been the same booing if it was Gnando coming on. I guess this proves that while footy fans know a lot about football, they don't know the players as well as the manager.

3. Nuttalls performance. No, it wasn't world beating, but he closed down there back line really well, scored a good goal and it was great to see him celebrate with the crowd. Will have done him good.

It's been great the past week to get that passion back, the kind that can only be ignited by a hardworking performance and a last minute winner.

Long may it continue!

2nd half was entertaining, but I doubt we would have mentioned being entertained if Maxwell hadn't made that late save, and then went onto score ourselves in injury time.
Peterboro, Portsmouth & Oxford games were all more entertaining imo.
And today's 1st half was definitely nothing to write home about entertainment wise, but the wind didnt help in either half.

the booing wasn't for nuttall - it was for subbing one of the better performers
agree though - i said earlier thats been the most enjoyable game for me this season

Thought Feeney put some decent crosses in but we missed Gnanduillet’s presence.

Was surprised about the substitution but it was obviously tactical, saying that, it’s not the first or last time fans have booed a good player coming off too early. Brave call and it paid off.

It was a tough game against a decent side, we battled well and looked dangerous going forwards. I like the back 3 with Husband and McDonald on the left. I also think Taylor Moore has been more consistent than Tilt which has helped.

Was disappointed to see Ronan come off, but he had been bullied a bit by the Ipswich players towards the end of the first half and the second half. From where thought Fonz had a terrible game today.

Another entertaining game, very enjoyable. Thought the whole team played well at times with a few standout performances. Did not like the period in the first half where Ipswich seemed to dominate. A combination of poor finishing and an in form Maxwell kept us in it. When I saw Nuttall getting ready to come on I was convinced it would be Madine who would come off, thought he’d had a poor game. Thought Dunn had got it wrong bringing off Ronan and also thought that’s what the booing was about, the decision not the players. Delighted to see Nuttall get the winner.
Hope this helps the whole team and Dunn move onwards and upwards.

Of course if their man had put the ball past Maxwell late on whilst he had the chance and they would have won 2-1, the decision by Dunn and Nuttall himself would have been pilloried. Sometimes, as football fans, we do need to take a step back and just because we all win FM every now and again doesn't mean we know any better.

O/P, 'I thought a draw would have been a fair result'.
Who cares, a win is what we needed, and we got it.
2nd half was very good. Best Home game so far this season.

Although those highlights don't show a couple of our very good chances it for me does highlight how much Ipswich dominated most of the game.

Said after the game that I actually enjoyed that one whereas earlier in the season I'd come out of games having not enjoyed it a bit even if we'd won, the players actually seem to know what system they're playing now and where they should be, much improved 👍
