Thoughts on Today's Defensive Horror Show?

1. Nice goal from Madine. Showed (on that occasion) confidence and composure which we've lacked
2. When they score their goal we have 7 players back and yet no one marks the lad who passed the ball or the goalscorer! Do we bother with marking players?
3. Again we get sucked in and no one watches their players - schoolboy stuff
4. Thorniley and Heneghan looked like they were being pulled apart
5. Madine probably had too much time at the end but should have done a lot, lot better (if that was Nuttall he would have been mullered!).

I can see why Thorniley was singled out. What is his actual position? Is he being played out of position in that back three because he doesn’t seem comfortable there. Is Larry putting square pegs in round holes?

Sir Harry is right...The space on the left was criminal, we just looked like we were chasing the ball most of the time.....and that back header...Schoolboy stuff....Although if Madine had scored that 1 on 1 we all would be saying there has been an improvement.

It was much the same on Tuesday. No one on the left out wide. A cross field ball did for us every time.

Thought it was a bit harsh on Gnando to blame him for the second goal. Also Nadine's miss not as bad as I believed from reading the forum. Of more concern than players hitting the post is the lack of chances imo.

Think I read we had 3 shots on target the whole game. Once again, the balance of the side just doesn't feel right.
Yeah we had 11 shots with 3 on target whilst oxford had 12 shots with 6 on target.

Corners we had 7 to their 3.

So all in all with what is going on I thought it was a decent performance against a good team. We just need to Muller southend

I said at 1-0 that had we got a second we would have gone on to secure the win, but as soon as they equalised the writing was on the wall. With Blackpool it's not first goal wins anymore, it's second goal wins. For anyone was there, did we push for a second or did we retreat as soon as the first went in?
