Throwing Flares

How did they get them in thought the two sniffer dogs where there for that but oh no a young lad gets pulled out for having a bit of Colombian on him ridiculous.

Yes l noticed that from where l was stood and it was very close to hitting him. What l found bizarre was the thousand stewards in front of the stand didn’t react to remove the first 2 flares thrown (after Dales goal), they left it to the Barnsley manager (l think?) to come on the pitch and remove them! Similar happened when Casey scored but this time a steward went down the players tunnel and came back out with a bucket of sand. By the time he reached the flare it had gone out! Most useless stewards I’ve ever seen at a football match!

I like the look of flares, it tends to add to the atmosphere, the problem is as so many others point out they can cause injury so there is no alternative but to ban 'em.

The club should put out a reward to dob in the idiot/s who do this, its giving the club and our wonderful support a bad name and the EFL could take action against the club, fines or even worse points deducted!!

This will come from seeing them thrown when we played Birmingham and some little wannabe will have got excited and though oh ill do that.

We've actually been well behaved at home and away tbh.

So let's hope that continues at home on Saturday.

Almost hit Kenny Dougall on the head.
He was lucky.
It's only a couple of months since two Sunderland players were injured by their own fans.

It's pretty simple really.
Don't be a tosser.

Nearly as embarrassing as a grown man having teddy bears in their avatar.
Its unlikely that Bleach51 will respond to you as he has far more class.

You don't even know the reason he may have teddy bears as his avatar.

Have a word with yourself, maybe change your user name to Donald Trump, same initials at Dollar Thief but easier to relate...

I come in peace.

Nothing wrong with Teddies. I got Bloomfield Bear in my avatar. 👍🏻 😉

It's football evolution.

In our day it was bog rolls thrown onto the pitch that the oldies complained about.
These days it smoke bombs that the oldies complain about.

Both have equally small risks, but are generally harmless.

Throwing coins on the other hand...
(From first hand experience )unless It was Man U when Dennis Law got sent off and it was glass bottles😳…which I got hit by as a 12 year old( or near enough)at the front of the Old Kop.

Flares a no go, but smoke bombs would be a great addition to the atmosphere at football. Obviously they need to be safe which I think is the issue but they’re great, aren’t they?

No they're not.

Flares are banned as are smoke bombs and other pyrotechnics. The law makes no distinction between them. They are both illegal. Anyone caught throwing them or attempting to take them into a football ground is liable to a criminal conviction, fine and in the worse cases a custodial sentence.

End of.

No major issues with hand held smokies.

Not seen a flare being thrown which would be utterly stupid.

Probably best for the sake of Simon Sadler having to pay fines that these smokies are kept off the pitch.

I don't think this is a major issue when you look across the globe at some of the utterly mental pyro displays you see.
