ticket pricing : 2022/23 season

BST welcomes today's announcement of prices which will allow fans to plan for next season.

We are particularly glad to see only a modest increase in Season Ticket Prices, as a time when many fans and their families will be feeling the pinch. The introduction of a Young Adult category for the 18-21 age group is also particularly welcome, as is the varied package of offers that go to make up the new Junior Seasiders' Club.

We are also pleased that the club has acted on feedback and introduced a Club Membership scheme. We strongly recommend that all fans who cannot commit to a Season Ticket, but intend to attend more than three home games next season, purchase a Club Membership. This will yield savings for every extra match attended

Finally, we note the individual match day prices and the £2 supplement for match day purchases. This puts "walk on" prices at the very top end of what we think casual and new fans can afford, and we urge the club to monitor levels of take up carefully.

How do you know what the casual fan can afford?

It's madness £30 must put us up there with one of the dearest grounds in the Championship for locals to get in for the cheapest match day ticket!
32 on the day and realistically away fans won't be paying that, as most buy in advance.

Its mainly pool fans who will come on the day.

If they are smart they will use the membership and purchase in advance, but some aren't smart and are casuals.

Its not welcoming to them and say what you want about them, you need them to grow the club and turn them into regulars.

Not arsed with walk up especially as you've been able to print at home now for a while to get in.
Not even bothered how clubs charge an extra two quid on the day it's the right thing to do in the Championship to bring in the correct number of security and food/drink etc.

What I totally disagree with is 30 quid for our cheapest ticket when I've been to loads of aways this season and ain't been charged that so their homes will have paid the same.

Is the damage already done by that point? Very expensive day out for a family now when you can get day tickets to most Blackpool attractions for less.

That’s why there’s a £15 membership

That's a bit timid isn't it? The match ticket prices are obviously OTT, so just say so surely?

No one wants to speak out against anything the club do because of all the good its done and doing, so instead we get these half statements, as not to come across as being critical or ungrateful.

It would be a much stronger reply if it was the EFL who had set the prices, that’s for sure.😂
Yeah, also if it was that interim board people would have a different reaction. I get Simon is becoming a legend and he's putting huge sums in, we all want to put all in we can too and the hardcore will.

But its about whats reasonable and affordable to the area they are meant to understand, also realising how new fans attend and maximising our home support.

If its just about money why not charge 50 quid, afterall Simons backing the club so why wont people just pay it and back the club too.

Its only 10 pints, a loaf of bread and an Indian takeaway cost ffs..... as people love those silly comparisons.

The last minute people are subsidising those who want to save money and buy early. I don’t have a problem with that.

People who save money and work on a budget will be familiar with voucher codes and offers and I don’t see it as anything different to that sort of thing really. I’d rather just own the discounts to those who book ahead without needing a membership but that’s just me.

If we want a club that competes in this division we have to expect prices at the mid table of the division overall.

The amount of assumptions people are making on these ticket threads is unbelievable.

You have one person throwing numbers around and prices trying to justify they know better, and believing their fairy tail made up numbers and you have other people who just think/assume the prices are too high, and you have the rest who think they are about right.

The club have picked price points that they believe are right - however they got there we simply do not know.

NOBODY knows for sure if they are right, over priced or even cheap, and will not until the season is over or a good way in at least.

One thing for sure is, if they are wrong - they will be different next year!

If i was running Blackpool FC I would look at something like the following over the season....

1, Season ticket revenue
2, Non season Ticket revenue
3, Other match day revenue
4, Net number supporters under / over age 21 against last season(s)
5, Number of walk ups compared to last year, compared to total match day ticket sales

Once I had this info I would know if I was getting it right or not and leave / change accordingly.

Mike,
One main factor you have overlooked is the “gorge” between solvent fans like you & I paying £15 a game because we are lucky enough to be able to renew our early bird ST, and the honest working class family being expected to pay £32 a game or even £27 it’s a £15 member.
That is why I passionately believe the club have got this one wrong.
I don’t want OUR “Beloved Club” to get anything wrong, especially when it’s lower income groups who are more likely to feel the pain the most.
It quite simply is an “injustice” in my opinion.

I have not overlooked that - there is a 6 month payment plan if needed, although I appreciate the difficulty some will have getting credit with this company and their are few alternatives.

You or I, or anyone do not know how or why the club came to their conclusions, but they obviously believe they are right as you believe you are right.

What I am saying is; time will tell who is and nobody knows for sure, as we do not have the evidence at the moment.

I think you are speaking as a season ticket holder who has plenty of money. Probably a business owner. And zero empathy tbh. People are saying match prices are too high because they've been increased a lot, and will match what Fulham charged in West London last season, and no other club charged.

It's not hard to understand surely.

Zero empathy - you could not be further from the truth!!!

I also recognise BFC is a community asset but it is also a business and not a charity.

If people are choosing between food, heat etc and football, they should not be going to the football whether its £15 a game or £32 a game, and I do empathise with those people completely.

It's not hard to understand surely!

The club clearly want more people to buy a season ticket as to be a non season ticket holder can work out quite expensive. If the take up on season tickets is 9k or even 10k, there will hardly be any match day tickets available, hence why they probably feel they can charge as much as they do.

Mike,
I am not going to have an all out exhausting debate on this forum.
I accept your valid point of “how does anyone know until it is tried”
However, in arriving at this decision what the board do know is:
Existing fans match ticket volumes & buying habits, the state of the economy, energy bill hikes,& war in Ukraine……It is based on these hard facts why I “personally” believe the club are wrong with their pricing that “if” proven will be detrimental to the club.

Where is statistics to show that your average non Blackpool supporting family decide to go to a Blackpool game on a Saturday?

If a random family go to Blackpool, they will have zero interest in going to the football as a family.

More lack of empathy tbh. Honestly.

All I am saying is proof is in the pudding!

I am not saying anyone is right or wrong, just
everything else at this stage is an assumption or an opinion.

It doesn’t matter how many times that opinion or assumption is repeated - it’s still an opinion or assumption at this stage.

Just like your opinion that the club are wrong.

Not at all. Sometimes you have to be real and not live in a fairy tail world where everyone helps everyone and nobody pays for anything.

Lack of empathy NO - understanding reality YES.

Am I happy to help in many ways - YES.

There you go. Fairy tale world. Everyone helps each other and nobody pays for anything. Wow. How condescending. Classic attitude. Zero empathy. And not what we are talking about at all.

We are simply talking about probably the most expensive match tickets in the division, and no payment scheme for season tickets. Just cos you can't see that it doesn't mean other people are in a fairy tale world.

The problem is SO we can look at our club figures but you also have to compare what your competitors charge for their cheapest match day ticket and apart from Bristol and Fulham their all below £30.

Regardless of the poverty in the town etc why on earth should a local pay more than a West Brom home fan does for example, also all the North West teams are around the £25 mark without having to purchase a membership.

This high price is to rip away fans off plain and simple and in my eyes that's plain wrong as they've the expense of travel also.

What a bad look to have that the Brom fans etc go to Rovers/Nobbers and then gets smacked on the backside coming to watch at our gaff totally wrong.

The reality is that aside from the big 6, both attendances and prices have generally been on a downward trend for about 5 years now across the country.

£32 for a match day ticket for a mid-table 2nd division club is ridiculous.

Even the Premier league has a £30 cap for away ticket prices.

We are going to be asking Norwich fans to pay the same to come to Bloomfield Road as they were paying at Old Trafford and Anfield this season.

Massive turn off if away fans think they are getting ripped off. I know I’ve boycotted grounds in the past on that basis. Bit of an own goal this one. Suppose we will find out soon enough, but I expect away (and home) numbers will drop next season. Imo

Didn’t raise this on Tuesday night when the decision makers were right there in the room. Odd

Especially when they are in a temporary stand with pillars and minimal facilities.

If you read what I said I didn’t recall £32 being quoted maybe it was but there was a big agenda to get through in a short time and the longer we dwelled on one question the less time we may have had to spend on others like ST Prices/New Training Ground/East Stand/North Stand Catering/Memberships/Policing at Bloomers & PNE Away etc,etc
I have already apologised for any shortfalls on my personal behalf if £32 was mentioned, there were 10 or so others in the room not just me.

It's pretty simple really. I love the direction our club is going in, but on ticket pricing walk up prices are too high and as a result we won't get many, particularly for the less appealing games. Away fan revenue is clearly being prioritised which, though it makes sense from a business perspective, sticks in the throat somewhat for me for two obvious reasons. 1. I'd prefer a quid pro quo approach with opposition clubs and 2. We are clearly going to price some lower income Seasiders out of the market. 2. upsets me particularly. We expect the club to monitor this closely and I would personally hope they adapt the approach to be more inclusive. Maybe with flash offers or similar.

One final point - the membership cards and 18-21 offer are definite steps forward. These are the fans of the future that we want to attract. However, if my kids were anything to go by, at that age people are not always the most organised. If you know any 18-21s, I suggest pressing them to get their early bird deals done promptly (if affordable), as after 1st July it starts getting expensive.
