Time they allowed iFollow access on Matchday?

Maybe time for the EFL to start allowing supporters in the UK to be able to follow iFollow on a match day. Reckon it could provide big revenues at £10 a time and have very little effect on attendances.

Thoughts?

Do you want matches played in empty grounds?

The whole game is run these days for the convenience of people who want to watch games in the pub or at home. Anyone but the poor buggers who actually support the clubs involved through thick AND thin, and actually generate all the atmosphere that helps make the product attractive.

So, no, you're dead wrong. 😎

Apparently it's down to Uefa article 48 not the FA and is to protect revenue for lower League clubs, the Accrington boss was kicking off about it cos their match got streamed on ifollow cos there is a clause allowing it in international breaks.

Example though Robbie - Saturday at work until 12, no chance of getting to Bristol Rovers, would be happy to pay to watch it as there are streams available anyway, I get to see the game and Rovers get some money they would never have seen?

Sorry Fedora, but no. You have to change your job, I'm afraid. 😎

In all seriousness, I understand your point, but the tail is wagging the dog.

That's fine but all that will happen all those who watch for free now will pay sod all and watch on illegal streams.
The something for nothing culture we have now adopted make it the same price as the a match ticket not half and if you get caught streaming made to purchase a season ticket at the club!

I think one of the problems ( and this applies to small clubs like Accrington and Fleetwood in particular) is the allocation of the ifollow receipts.
IF the money was allocated in the same way as gate receipts then when Accy play Sunderland they would probably get quite a few extra £10 from those fans that can't attend due to the limited capacity for away fans in the ground. Likewise Fleetwood when they play a well supported club like Blackpool. 😀
There are of course lots of people who simply can't attend games on a Saturday but would pay £10 to watch the match. These would be additional football receipts even though it might go to the opposition.
For those fans that can get to the match I would hazard a guess that the majority would still actually go to the game regardless of online accessability.

They are losing serious money with all these chipped fire sticks, might as well make it legal to watch and make some revenue!

I’ll be investing £10 in to iFollow tonight - would have to spend £20 on petrol to freeze my ‘nads off and get home after Midnight when I can watch on my 60” TV with heating on and the Missus making my tea 👍

Do we know how much of the £10 actually goes to the home club?
Strong arguments both ways but tend towards the view that the club will lose out and it's the thin end of the wedge...eventually every game will be available on demand. What then for revenues, crowds, atmosphere etc in the lower leagues?

Ifollow money goes to the club you purchase the pass from.
Can' t remember what % of the £10 goes to the Blackpool if you buy from them. I think its 60% or more.
This was looked at in the NAPM days so the inormation is out there. I think Plumbs was quite clued up on it.

Time they banned it. The obsession with TV coverage will lead to empty grounds, no atmosphere and the death of the product they allegedly value.

I agree they should start making the 3.00 pm Saturdays available on i follow, maybe make the price a bit more expensive (Possibly the same as a match ticket) this way the club will generate more match-day revenue, I personally don't think it will massively effect attendance as, you never know the club will have more cash, more followers, eventually might make the match day ticket cheaper.

Cheers insider.

60 % is a decent proportion for the club but the risk of it becoming a TV/streaming only sport. Call me old school but I like Pool games on TV to be a special event.

Ok I'm confused. If the match is available on iFollow tonight, which apparently it is according to those who say they are going to watch it, then doesn't that mean it's available on match day?! I realise i must be missing something here and must look a bit stupid. Is it radio only on match day?
