Time To “Ditch” Taking The Knee??

I see both Leicester & Chelsea fans booed the taking of the knee at yesterday’s Cup Final.
As a “buck” of a lad I put “Anti-Nazi League” Posters up in my 6th Form Common Room,I’ve supported the FA “Kick It Out” Campaign since its initiation and remain an avid supporter.
Please,Please,Please don’t spoil my evening seeing my team “taking the knee” supporting what many perceive as “Reverse Racism”
Football has no place for “Racism” either way.
Let’s all continue to support “Racism...Kick It Out” from our “Beautiful Game” it really HASN’T got any place either way.

They've been doing it all season. They're not going to ditch it on Friday. Agree or disagree but it's all over within 5 seconds.
I think it will be a thing of the past at football at the start of next season.

As long as people insist on not listening to them, and insist on proving their ignorance by accusing them of being racist, I would expect them to continue. In fact, I’d be disappointed if they didn’t. I don’t care if you own a Little Richard LP and once went to Morocco on holiday, it’s not your place to decide.

It doesn't impact on the game so whatever the players want to do pre-match is up to them. It's a few seconds.

As for the booing. It wasn't both sets of supporters. It was a small section of Chelsea fans. There was also applause, so why should those who boo it be the ones whose views count.

And with respect, it isn't about you, or me too. And if you really think some people kneeling for a few seconds is ruining your evening, then just close your eyes for 5 seconds. Problem solved.

It’s not politics. It’s real. We live in a country that has decent intentions but hasn’t yet followed through. And a country who’s starting point is horrendous. The racist legacy needs eradicating, quoshing, ending.

I’ll take the nod on that from others that aren’t privileged, white.

I am not sure, for example, Grant Ward would agree with your rant. As for hiding behind the 6th form poster, that really is a bit feeble. If it’s going to ‘spoil your evening’, then feel free to stay at home,

End the problem, then end the protest.

If our players take the knee on Friday and any of you lot boo then you can piss right off.

Yes, the purpose and intent of taking the knee absolutely can be criticized (I myself think it's a bit meaningless), but if our own players are taking the knee they need to be supported and cheered on as it's their own prerogative.

It's the first time they'll be playing with the supporters in months and they NEED all the support they can get, booing would be a completely counterproductive measure.

I hope the players read this so they realise it's all about you and get a sense of perspective.

How many players don't even agree with taking the knee but feel complied to go along with it anyway in case they lose their jobs?

I'm not sure there should be place for it in the modern game seeing how divisive it is.

They won’t ditch it, some because they passionately believe it’s the right thing to do, some because they’re supporting their teammates and some because they feel if they don’t, they’ll come under fire from their teammates and/or their club.

Not going there again with this, neither opinion will prevail, hence why ,,,,,,, 🙄

Anyhow, if you don't agree just turn your back, simple. 👍

More black players refusing to take the knee in the last few weeks.
Tells you all to need really it’s run it’s cause.
But I don’t think booing is the answer.
Hopefully come next season it’ll have long gone.

FFS another 'don't bring politics into football'. Well, when we get rid of the racists fine, but in last season, it was evident we have our own.

There should be NO boos at all. FFS it’s the first time fans have been in for ages. What message would even a single boo send out. ** unbelievable. Just leave it to run it’s natural course & hopefully help to stamp out racism, I’d rather hear loud cheering at every opportunity. Then if some dickhead decides to boo it won’t be heard. 🤬

It’s not sanctioned by the FA. Or EFL. Yet it goes on and on and on. How long is this unauthorised campaign going to go on for? Politics is divisive. Kick it out.

There is an official campaign endorsed by the clubs which is inclusive and been going for years. BLM style political gesture posturing has no place in football. It’s not sanctioned, it’s been tolerated out of fear of the reaction if they did put a stop to it. Fear politics. Which is what BLM are all about.

Yeah, gangs of pi##ed up BLM supporters going around forcing other fans to not make monkey noises or abuse black players on social media.
Do you realise how stupid that comment is.....Obviously not.....🤔

So mods, when is this one getting chucked into the politics forum considering mine was and it was specifically about the Blackpool game on Friday?

Yep we’re all stupid. Are the black players who don’t choose to take the blessed knee stupid too? Or do they agree with monkey noises or abuse of black players? Or is it simply that they don’t agree with the BLM political campaign and methods?

No one is losing their job by not kneeling. There have been a few players who haven't knelt and they've still been picked for the next game.

If the players want to do it, I think that’s upto them and fine, it’s only a few seconds, I also think it’s gone on a bit long and become meaningless...i think it’s lack of crowds which has allowed it to continue....

Initially taking the knee appeared an effective tool in the fight against racism. It has though become very divisive though due to its association with BLM. Many including myself despise this organisation. We do not perceive it as a legitimate vehicle to fight racism, but see it as over run by people with hatred in their hearts who want to cause division in society and promote a mandate of anarchy. I will not boo this action but hope that it can be replaced with something that we can all accept, at the end of the day racism is bad and needs fighting effectively with a strategy we can all adopt.

Ivan Toney and Wilfred Zaha are right, its achieving nothing now.

Its very much like the social media blackout a couple of weeks ago, it raises awareness and people jump on it to be seen to be doing the right thing, but the same things keep happening and its virtue signalling.

You can’t keep politics out of football though... not entirely. It’s something we have to deal with until people stop abusing others. You’d think it would be easy wouldn’t you???

Any suggestions as to what can be done then .. genuine question. I feel for anybody being abused for their skin colour, nationality etc... Grant Ward copped for some the other week and it’s pathetic

The only way it reduces is by ensuring that all social media accounts make you use photo ID to register an account. You have to for lots of betting accounts.

That way, people are far less likely to post abuse, knowing that the person knows who they are & there is the likely threat of arrest or criminal record. It won’t happen though as social media companies aren’t arsed, too much money in it. Sad but true.

Its a mad world when you lose 1-0 at home to Blackpool & your first thought is to go and racially abuse a player online. Taking the knee, boycotting social media isn’t going to change that. Scroll many Twitter feeds and last weeks boycott has done the square root of fuck all for some peoples mentality. Granted, it might waken up the social media platforms but whilst they print money they aren’t in any rush at all to do what is right.

The majority of racist posts or abuse given to people online are by accounts with no followers, no PPI on their page.

Someone said "It's going to far if I have to prove my identity" well, don't post on twitter then.

Likewise if a fan wishes to show their disapproval they should not be criticised. What's good for that there goose should be good for that there gander or doesn't it work like that on here still?

UEFA don't give a f@@k you just have too look at the Kamara incident to see that it will never be stamped out until the authorities take it serious.

And you are spittin' in the wind preferring "Kick-It-Out" (also my preferred option) to taking the knee. You'll probably be accused of racism the same as I have been for taking a negative view of the practice.

And how is taking the knee going to stop those cretins posting on social media?

Still doesn't work like that, though I agree with you even if I wouldn't boo but prefer to turn my back on it. Still labelled as a racist though.

Can't see this continuing into next season personally - it's run it's course

That said anyone thinking of booing their own players for doing it ( even if it does continue ) needs to give their head a wobble
When you say run its course though, what do you mean? Genuine question
