Time to stand together

I have been thinking a lot about our situation recently and have had lots of doubt spinning around my mind. I was not enamoured with Grayson as our new manager in the summer and I have been critical of his tactics this season.

However, I am concerned and saddened by the negative reaction to not only our manager but some of our players too. We are in transition, SG is building a completely new squad and after the busiest January transfer window I can remember he now has a mass of new players to get used to each other and for him to get them into a formation where they will flourish. He has to be given the chance to do this so getting rid of him this season would be a mistake. He has the players, although I think we are lacking a nippy striker who can play off a target man, and he has been backed magnificently by SS. We need to be realistic and hope he can get the team playing good football and winning games. It’s no good if we, the supporters don’t get behind the players, ALL the players, and manager, now is not the time to be weak and lily livered, now is the time to stand up and be counted. To get behind them not desert them or slate them, we need to help lift them not make them more anxious and more devoid of confidence.

I am disappointed to see so many who are expecting too much too soon. If SG still hasn’t got it right by May then he needs to be worrying about his position. To say he doesn’t care or shows no emotion is ridiculous, he is worried, you can see it and hear it. He needs this job to go well, he wants the team to fly. He needs the rest of this season and he needs us to be a part of that by standing together.

A plea for patience? More a plea for unity and working as one. If he can get it right, that is the best thing that can happen and he will have the chance to get exactly the squad he wants by the start of next season.
