I really dont get why we have to make changes virtually every game and why we change the balance of the team all the time. The performance against Fulham was on e of the best in the last ten years and we should have made as little change as possible. I accept it was asking a lot for Stewart to play 3 games so quickly and it maybe would have risked him being out again for a while. We really missed him last night and he simplifies everything and can actually find a good ball. Dougall certainly wasnt as effective and didnt have a great game but for me that should have been the only change.

Keshi had one of his best games on Saturday and his reward was to be dropped. That was a poor decision and altered the whole shape of the team. It was always going to be a tough task balancing Yates TJJ and Lavery. Personally I dont believe Keshi was the right man to drop as it resulted in TJJ playing a different role and he didnt look comfortable from the off.

Lavery huffed and puffed and nobody can deny his workrate. Bowler was well shackled and at times had two and even 3 players marking him. That should leave space on the left and we really didnt exploit that. Jerry is out of form and the service to him is not helping his cause but I would have taken TJJ oss and let Yates keep working.

Finally why didn't we have Carey on the bench?...he can make things happen and can chamge a game.

Good OP especially the Carey question. I’ve said it many times we need to give him the opportunity at this level as he is the most creative attacking midfielder we have.

There’s going to be a few games where we need 3 in midfield, last night was one of them.

TTJ on the left in a 4 isn’t the answer. He’s got talent but as a forward I don’t think he’s even had a chance yet has he? He’s creative but zero goal scoring threat so far.

4-2-3–1 or 3-5-2 is going to have to be played in some games, if not we’ll get overrun at times.

Kevin Stewart is a massive player for us, links the defence to attack so well.

The thing that sticks out at the moment is that it’s very hard to say what our best starting line up and shape is. There’s a lot of players but no obvious system that they all seem to fit.
When I see TJJ, Yates and Lavery start, my immediate reaction is to wonder how all 3 play together effectively. The answer last night was that they don’t

The tinkering goes hand in hand with square pegs in round holes and giving players 50:50 jobs where they’re neither one thing or another.

Last season, our turnaround started with a simpler approach and more balanced side. Consistency in staff and shape are surely a way of getting to that.

We’re trying to shoehorn those 3 into a starting line-up and it won’t work I don’t think.

Yates is essential for the press but Lavery made a great start and looks a proper goal threat, tough decision to make but needs to be done, Calderwood would sort it 😂

I guess, it’s because half are knackered

you can’t spect the same eleven to play 3 games in 7 days especially with most being new to this level of footie

Do you really think any other Club wouldn’t make changes with that weekly programme

the fresher the players are the better and last bear in mind some had long haul flights too last week which upsets the whole normal training and playing outline

they might get paid well but robototic they aren’t !

e need to start winning - yes it won’t hue seep forward v Fulham & one hureality check last night but we have the talent I am coinced - this is a Town efffort all - get on the supporters ride urge

The thing re goals is you have to do everything you can to maximise your threat. Jerry is key to that and at the moment we don’t seem to be doing all we can to get him in better positions to be a threat.

Agree with this and he isn’t getting into enough dangerous positions at the moment… he’s desperate for a goal

Yep, I really am surprised that apparently wanting to play a passing game but setting up so we get over run in the key area, don't get that tbh.

Good assessment.
