In the Dembele debate I wondered if he would play him in the Carey position but put Connolly as LWB to cover the defensive work. Instead he’s gone for Thompson which is better than Connolly but still the same thinking.

Going to be interesting as he’s packed the midfield and attack to look like that last 20 mins at Oxford.

Husband likely injured, it wasn’t Kouassi’s finest hour so can see why Lavery starting, Thompson in to counter a specific threat from there right wing?

Looks as close to the team that improved things on Saturday. It appears he had to make some other changes as well.
Dembele starting is a worthwhile gamble to me. Hopefully we will at least get a bright start.

Spot on Gir, unfortunately some people get great delight at criticising the manager at every opportunity, even though they haven’t got the faintest idea what goes on behind the scenes.
Quite a few on here have been crying out for Dembele to start so tonight they get their wish.
I’m not a big fan of Lavery despite the fact that he puts a lot of effort in so I really hope he proves me wrong

You might be right - I thought Dale had a bit of a shocker on Saturday.

Yes Husband is a big miss. Don't under-rate Cheltenham. They're much better than their league position on recent form.
