Tony Ellis

Never understood this legend bit . Especially when they also had a decent spell at our rivals. The saying legend is used far to frequently these days . He was a very good player and that’s all.

Also to add he scored some cracking goals, in from the left and arrowing it towards the top corner 🏹

Somebody has put together a piece on YouTube with lots of his goals for us on.

He did score many as you describe but to be fair to the great man, one of his goals (it's on YouTube) was from the other side.

Two of my favourite goals he scored would be at Bradford away in the play-offs and a last minute equaliser at Stockport (earlier the same season I think).

A top player in the lower leagues, too big a chip on his shoulder to be considered a legend for me though. He was at Blackpool just for the money and it didn't half show.

Some of his curlers into the top corner after cutting in from the right will stay with me forever. There was one goal, at Bournemouth I think, that was worth all the hours in the car and the stupid o’clock departure....we won 2-1, that I do know.

what defines a legend? Brett, yes. Eamonn, yes. Bob Hatton and Micky Walsh...it’s a yes from me.

He was a lovely player to watch with a great touch about him. It was easy to block out who he'd played for in the past while you were enjoying such quality in a tangerine shirt.
An Oyston masterstroke getting him 😀

That Stockport goal was great. Certainly didn't fly in, but I was stood right in line with the top corner and you knew it was in the moment he hit it. Bedlam in the away end...

Receives the ball with his back to goal on the left corner edge of penalty box.
Turns man.
Curls into the top right hand corner.
Classy player even if he was a Nobber.
