Highly thought of by Pool and Newcastle fans.

They wouldn't have left him out if they had been old enough to have seen the game mentioned at Old Trafford where for the geordies TG took on the cream of the Charlton/Law/Best United machine and dismantled it almost single handed. One of the greatest individual performances ever seen.

As a child i only saw him play a few times but have never forgotten the buzz of anticipation whenever he got the ball. What a wonderful footballer.

He had great skill, two good feet, a phenomenal engine but the thing I remember most about him was his balance. Had he not been injured he could have been Scotland's answer to Colin Bell. Unquestionably the greatest player I've ever seen in a Blackpool shirt in the fifty three years that I've followed the club.

I went to a Christening at St.Kentigerns and my brother said have you seen who’s in front of us .!When I started bowing he said we’re not Muslim. He went to support Man U so wouldn’t understand

Yes , all true and a[

Sorry, got a hiccup...was going to say, he also had a blistering turn of pace. I remember a match against Burnley at BR and TG just left Ralph Coates, who was no slouch, in his wake. Just skated past him.
Also THE match at Deepdale, TG just danced around PNE. UTP!

I remember that brilliant night in the early Championship when we beat Newcastle 2-1. Tony went over to the Gene Kelly at half time and had a chat with them.

One of two who've been here while I've been alive that I'll always wish I could have seen play. Alan Suddick's the other.

We obviously had a lot of very good players through the late 60s and 70s, and I'm sure those of you who were going then have a variety of favourites for a variety of reasons. But those two stand out as consistently in everyone's memories.

How much footage do you think actually exists of either? I've seen the Bologna final right through, but not much else.

That´s a lovely post ,CGP1.

Suddick, an artist in tangerine. Yes, we did indeed have some truly top players at that time. UTP!!

Quite simply the best Pool player I’ve ever seen, he was just amazing to watch and got your pulse racing every time he got the ball and set off on a mesmerising run leaving desperate defenders in his wake! I was gutted for him when that injury cruelly ended his career prematurely, lovely guy also.

My favourite Blackpool player ever. He always played with the energy and enthusiasm of a young boy but so talented. In the days when I used to watch new teachers teach I purposely made sure I watched a student teach at his old school so that I could sit in his staffroom chair. Sad I know.....!

A great player.

I remember the sheer feeling of excitement being in Bloomfield Road early wondering what magic Green and Suddick would produce.

if I remember rightly when he went to Newcastle where he played thirty odd games and won the man of the match in two thirds of the games he played.

I was devastated when he was sold to the Geordies.

Top bloke is Tony I so wish I'd seen him play, both he and Christine have done more than their fair share for the club and the fans cause over the years also .. Great company on night in or out - Highly recommended ..

Had a long conversation with TG at the Christmas P/up in Poulton a few (3 I think) years ago.
We were both a little drunk, but really enjoyed talking to him.
A wonderful footballer whose career was far too short.
He would have gone on to be one of the all-time greats.

Having already paid a heart felt tribute to Alan Suddick it is time to do the same for the greatest player I have ever seen in a Tangerine shirt. He was incredibly fit with a great engine who was also exceptionally quick with an amazing burst of pace and able to avoid tight marking. He is clearly an intelligent man and that also showed in the way that he played the game. Now in retrospect his all action and totally committed style of play made him vulnerable to the hard men in 70s football. But my memories of this great footballer will remain with me for ever. Despite the fact that he is such a modest and self effacing man I hope he understand how he much he is loved and respected by all true Blackpool fans.
