Trevor Hemmings

I think a few of the PNE fans might have resented him for “forcing” them to sell their shares to him at 1p each (IIRC) when he made his takeover. Retrospectively, they consider he used emotional blackmail. Which many regarded as being for the greater good.

Whatever philanthropic donations he made and causes that he heavily supported for which he has been rightly eulogised, there is no doubt he was fairly hard-nosed when it came to business, and that is not a slight on his character. How else does one become a billionaire? He did play fairly for a club owner though, compared to others we know of.

There are a lot of things more important than football and raeding about how much TH helped others he also recognised this. Reading the posts on here, which are appreciated by all on the PNE-Online MB, show what a great person he was and how much his life has affected others. Who would have believed it, but he has even got rival fans joining in together and bringing us closer together and I'm sure that TH would have been really pleased with this.

No matter what I may have said in the past but you lot aren't a bad bunch really and your posts are much appreciated by myself and many others 👍

I'd post my condolences on PNE online but I'd be banned 'for being a Lasher ' like everyone else.

Again.

The majority of football fans are respectful when someone dies, even if a legend for a rival, I remember that a lot of pool fans sent condolences when Sir Tom Finney passed too

A couple of snippets from his Times obituary.
I don't think his RPH donation has been mentioned on here, but then his charitable work wasn't done for publicity...

For all his high-profile businesses, Hemmings was an enigma. “Trevor is not driven by the kind of ego that needs to be satisfied by seeing himself in the papers,” one associate said. “There is a perceived strength in not being available. He is far from ostentatious. He could be having a pie and a pint in a pub and you wouldn’t know who he was.”

His philanthropic work was similarly low-key, and included funding a £300,000 centre for victims of rape and sexual assault at the Royal Preston Hospital in 2002. He was also vice-president of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers (now the Carers Trust). 👏👏👏

Credit where credits due. This is an excellent gesture by your club.

Hope Deepdale is packed Saturday, it will be an emotional but heartwarming day I’m sure.👍

Seemed like a decent chap.

Looks to have had a good innings.

Shame he didn't get to witness the derby.
My thoughts too could have seen Mr Sadler & Mr Hemmings both sat together on the balcony enjoying what I am sure will be a cracking football match (sad as it is his passing could fire up both sets of players & fans ) let's hope for a cracking atmosphere ,and maybe lots of applause at the end of the game towards both sets players and fans ,would love to see fans shaking hands at the end ,no that really would be special😞.
