Bottling Republican senators edging their bets. They are a disgrace. Twas ever thus with the Right. No surprise but at least 7 of them have principles. Biden won't give two shits though...him being President.

This should not be a Left or Right debate, the guy is a total disgrace and in my opinion has set the US back 20 years in how they are perceived in other countries.
He actually made Enoch Powell look like moderate

He's got off purely on partisan grounds. If it had been a neutral jury he'd be in jail.

Not really, they're all as bad as each other. The trial was a joke and should have never gone ahead. The fact it did has probably increased the odds of him running again, and probably winning.

Previously said it was politically motivated and a pointless exercise as he had already gone and there was never going to be two thirds of the senate voting for impeachment.
It will be interesting to see if there is actually any court case against Trump in relation to the riot. I don't like Trump and I do really hope that he gets nowhere near the White House again, but I have to say that the case against him by the House managers / Democrats was pretty poorly put together and fairly easily countered by his defence. Indeed I can't see that it would meet the legal definition or legal standards for a conviction
 
They could have shown video of him wanking off to Hitler speeches while drowning kittens, the Republicans in dodgy seats would never have convicted. The only GOP convicters were six yearers or retirees.
 
I think that he has three major things to worry about :

a) his health. He's bound to have paid a price for COVID, and like many of us he wasn't in great shape to begin with

b) criminal justice. The potential criminal charges are racking up, and this acquittal is no good to him there

c) the security services. I'm not normally a deep state paranoiac, but they must have realised there is an easy way to end the cult. And his family won't be capable of perpetuating it, given they are all talentless leeches. **

If somehow he makes it onto the ballot in 2024 he'll be roughly the same age as Biden. won't he? He won't like being called "Sleepy Don"....

d) bankruptcy, something like $400m due to be repaid or refinanced this year, the pandemic has presumably not been good news for the real estate market, his reputation is tarnished and doubts are circulating about his true net worth, I think this is potentially a very real risk.


Other than that, a) doesn't seem to be an issue, c) seems to be a bit far fetched, but b) I think is only a matter of time.

The trouble with option C is you make him in to a martyr, even if it looks like natural causes, he's better alive ** things up, much like the decision not to take Hitler out during WW2.

I'd put money on the conversation taking place though.
