Trump and the BBC

It’s obvious the BBC have a leftie bias
Even though the director general is a Tory?

Of course the BBC should always be impartial so this would be disappointing if true. However The House Jan. 6 committee's report asserts that Donald Trump criminally engaged in a "multi-part conspiracy" to overturn the lawful results of the 2020 presidential election and failed to act to stop his supporters from attacking the Capitol. The chair of that committee said Trump “lit the fire” of the insurrection.

Maybe more people should question the utter shite that Trump spouts on a daily basis.

Like him pardoning a jailed Chinese crypto investor who just happened to have bought $1.3 billion of Trump's own crypto currency. Pure coincidence.

'Lots of people have said he's innocent'.

My favourite at the moment is blaming the government shut down on the democrats despite the Republicans controlling all branches of government. Either they are utterly incompetent or it’s on purpose. Either way, the shutdown hasn’t stopped Trump spending millions on upgrades to the White House…

Shutdown means no spending, making it look like they're delivering on those savings promised.

So people starve and die for the lack of a doctor. Not my problem.

Did Donald Trump have a direct effect in the January 6th rioters?
Did he say anything to cause the January 6th riots?
Did he speak and tell his supporters to 'fight' for their country?

If you honestly believe he said nothing and those people just turned up to Washington on their own with no organisation or idea of what they were going to doing.......you need to give your head a serious wobble.

Funny that the people who think the BBC are biased......probably watch GB News and think it's totally balanced reporting

Well call me shocked there was me thinking the BBC was neutral.
Trump derangement syndrome is actually a thing. Seen it with the meltdowns of O’Brien, Maitlis, Campbell and Stewart the moment Trump won. Don’t know why these cretins get so worked up when his policies in no way will affect their lives. I wish they would have reserved their anger for Biden who was by far more disastrous he wasn’t even mentally or physically fit to run the country and not forgetting all his corruption like pardoning his own date of space son. The BBC like you the individuals I mentioned all have selective outrage when it comes to political reporting.

His policies directly affect us, because the likes of Reform are copying them directly and implementing them here.

DOGE in councils? Trump
Insurance based healthcare? Trump
Tax breaks for billionaires? Trump
Cuts to pensions and benefits? Trump.

Everyone is biased in some form or other. I see Trump is now banning any press who don’t follow White House reporting guidelines. It’s pathetic behaviour and completely dispels the myth that these guys are pro freedom of speech, and is obviously biased towards the people who speak well of him.

I actually thought Trump would be a breath of fresh air at one time but he’s genuinely unhinged. He’s no better than Kim Jong Un.

No Trump has ever been a breath of fresh air 😆

Not calling you a liar but we heard all that scaremongering from his first term. We even heard Corbyn and people from the left saying the NHS would get sold the moment he gets in power and guess what it’s still there.
You can’t deny that US healthcare is in massive need of reform after Obama care?
I think Tory cuts were happening long before Trump was in the White House?
Billionaires have always been protected in the USA the perfect time to go after them was the financial crash but guess what the democrats done absolutely nothing.
Not that I am a die hard Trump supporter but I agree with plenty of his (common sense) policies like controlling borders, avoiding foreign wars, the gender ideology, and putting more focus back on manufacturing instead of green policies. I know he does and says moronic things but if honest you could write a book of all the stupid/contradictory things that Biden, Harris, Obama, Clinton so I don’t think there is any reason to fear Trump. I have heard people going to extreme lengths claiming the US is now a fascist country and putting in links to 1940s were they are completely off the mark. Not forgetting he has business ventures all over the UK and he has wanted to build great relations with the UK more so than Obama who wanted the special relationship to end once we voted Brexit.

I don't even know where to start.......and it would be a long boring reply.
Simply.......You're wrong on almost every single point and if you cant see that. then there's very little hope.

And when they write the history books.......I doubt you will be saying anything like that.

Not scaremongering at all. I bet you our exporters are delighted with the impact tariffs are having.

The biggest danger of Trump is that he has no intention of supporting Europe, including us, if there is further Russian aggression.

How can people not see him for what he is?

America has ICE snatching people off the street and intimidating others

The Nazis had the SA.

Yes it he Jan 6th riots were a poor show. Unfortunately given how shit politicians in the west have become in the last 20 years is it any wonder Trump a reality tv star rolled to victory twice.
Not that I am defending the riots but plenty of politicians/media create riots just look at Alastair Campbell trying to (undemocratically) trying to overturn Brexit that could of easily ended democracy in this country as we know it.
If we lock Trump up for

You can’t seriously say there is a comparison between Trumps America and Nazi Germany. Given that America is one of the most liberal countries in the world. He is probably the most pro-American president there has been in a long time, that doesn’t make him a nazi.
Just look at the destruction caused by left wing anarchists like fractions of BLM, Antifa do you really think they would be allowed their freedom to protest if Trump was creating a dictatorship.

Trump has done more to try and resolve the conflict than what Biden managed. Again look at his track record he done more to stand up to North Korea than what Obama managed under 2 terms, even though we heard the usual scaremongering that there would be at world war the moment trump gets elected.
About standing up to Russia just look at what our former EU champ Merkel said the other week she actually pinned the blame on Poland for the Ukraine invasion. That is the type of BS that if it came from Trumps mouth they would demand his resignation.
Of course Trump will support the UK, he has been much more respectful to us than what the democrats were and he has always said from day 1 he wants to keep the special relationship. Not forgetting the Obama disasters in Libya and Syria not sure we would be any safer if the democrats got back in power.

Media controlling the narrative shocker ! They are all at it. No wonder half of us don’t know if we’re coming or going with our political choices.
Unfortunately though the BBC should do better, as it makes a mockery of the licence fee when you are being fed edited bs like this.
A lot of deflection nonsense on this thread as always. Why can’t people stick to commenting on the misreporting by the BBC instead of all the usual whataboutery.
As ever the input to the debate totally devalues the outcome when folk repeatedly and instantly deflect from the subject matter.
This board needs a left wing forum for everyone left wing to just agree on everything, a right wing forum for the same, and a forum for those of us not bound to one political party to have decent and open minded discussions.

America liberal? Give it a rest.

Hitler was incredibly pro-German.

What destruction? You do realise that Trump has deployed the national guard in democrat cities to quell protests which by and large aren’t even really happening.

If Trump isn’t creating a dictatorship then please describe what’s democratic about shutting down the governments and suspending pay for millions federal works only to crack on with his multi million dollar revamp of the White House. Seems rather dictator like to me.

💯 a thread about the BBC turns into Trump bashing.
Potential tax rises Farage bashing, our Chancellor not paying for a licence what about those Billionaires!

Yes of course America is liberal it is one of the most diverse countries in the world it has even had black presidents whilst other countries around the world have never even had a woman leader! They actually have some of the most liberal policies in the world like affirmative action etc.
Why are you bringing Hitler into it who was one of the most evil leaders the west have ever had. If you seriously think 2025 America is anyway like 1930s Nazi Germany were people got sent to concentration camps then sorry there is not much point debating this further.
I didn’t say I agree with everything Trumps done but just merely pointing out that the hysteria and paranoia over anything Trump does. If you seriously believe think Trump is like Hitler then I would hate to ask your opinion of Obama who acted more like the ‘dictator’ over the EU referendum when he threatened UK if we didn’t vote how he wanted.

More shame for the BBC: BBC’s bias ‘pushed Hamas lies around the world’

The BBC’s Arabic news service chose to “minimise Israeli suffering” in the war in Gaza so it could “paint Israel as the aggressor”, according to an internal report by a whistleblower.

Allegations made against Israel were “raced to air” without adequate checks, the memo says, suggesting either carelessness or “a desire always to believe the worst about Israel”.

And: Now we have the evidence. The BBC knowingly helped spread Hamas lies and hate

The leaked Prescott Report is a devastating document. It is an insider’s account of serious and widespread failings of impartiality, systemic bias and activist journalism spanning years of BBC news coverage.

It lays bare for the first time how senior BBC executives repeatedly tried to dismiss, downplay or excuse these failings in a total abdication of their responsibilities. In doing so, they failed to uphold the highest standards of public service journalism we must expect of the BBC.

Trump is a complete lying, narcissistic twunt and the BBC are shameful for producing such a biased clip.

The two things aren't mutually exclusive.

The thing is I don't trust Donald Trump, but I want to be able to trust the national, public funded, 'unbiased' broadcaster of this country, or I might as well just whack GB News on.

All of this is bollocks.

For a start I might have missed it but when did Alistair Campbell lead an armed insurrection against parliament? Are you suggesting 'The People's Vote', a movement entirely led by the democratic process, was comparable?

The US is very, very far from being one of the most liberal countries on Earth as you suggest, I doubted it would be top 20, even so 'pro American' Trump tried to ride roughshod over it's constitution in the most visible and violent way possible.

Trump would happily crush Antifa https://www.whitehouse.gov/presiden...-antifa-as-a-domestic-terrorist-organization/ even though it doesn't actually exist as a coherent body.

Owt else?

Trump spoke for 70 minutes on January 6th — the longest speech of that day.
And during those 70 minutes, he said all of this:

“If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country any more.”
He repeated “fight like hell” as a rallying cry.
“We will never give up. We will never concede.”
He pushed the crowd toward the Capitol, saying: “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol… we’ll be cheering on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them
He claimed the election was stolen — not once, not twice, but six separate times.

These aren’t scattered remarks from different events.....These are the actual words from that one 70-minute speech.

So here’s the simple question:

Do you show people the full picture — the entire speech — or do you pick the comments that show what that speech was about?

If the BBC took two unrelated lines, pulled from different moments, and then spliced them together to manufacture a totally different meaning then that’s a problem.......but they didn't, Trump used that speech to wind up a bunch of right wing nutters to storm the capitol

Eh as soon as Brexit was won Alastair Campbell tried to overturn it through protest in the street before it was even implemented and he spoke bullocks about how we were all duped by Russia to vote leave.
How was the people’s vote democratic it was just a bunch of MPs and celebrities who ignored the wishes of the country even though they promised Brexit would be implemented. Do you honestly think that’s reasonable overturning a democratic decision that a minority disagree with?
America does have liberal values such as fred speech etc, maybe I was wrong to call it the most liberal in the world but it is in nowhere near like Hitlers Germany as you have suggested.

Let me remind you what this thread was about initially it was about the BBC our tax payer funded media deliberately editing Trumps words to say he wanted to start a riot when his actual words said nothing of the sort. So I take it you will now call the BBC out as fascist for their intentional gas lighting?
Of course Trump would crush antifa they have freaking already cheered about him nearly getting assassinated and just recently they have celebrated Charlie Kirk getting shot. So I can see why they have been labelled as a potential threat. It is not fascist to say otherwise.
Again as I have mentioned plenty of times I know Trump is not in anyway perfect I am pointing out the double standards of the BBC who treat him like Satan when they did nothing of the sort when Biden, or Obama were in office.

Thatcher did by withdrawing the Endurance, giving Argentina carte blanche to invade.

No not directly I don’t remember it ever having any impact on my live through his first term in office despite the usual mass hysteria.
To tell you the truth I am more worried about the damage net zero is already doing to the country.
Of course unless Trump does something really extreme like launch a nuclear bomb then I will start to worry.
If thinking globally the UK is still the 6th largest economy.
I don’t want to go down road of a massive debate which I have already had on this thread but I have pointed out the incompetence of his predecessors and I am not going to loose any sleep over Trump despite what the BBC says.

So you think his policies will no way impact on our lives. Clearly you have very narrow thinking try thinking globally! When America sneezes we catch a cold.
That's very true. However we should be big enough to withstand the man-baby and push ourselves back into massive manufacturing. Forget outsourcing, manufacture for industry and the military. With tax breaks and other incentives for UK manufacturing, we can be a big player on the world stage.
