Turnstile Searches

Nail on head.

Same with the Police stop and search policy if you’ve nothing to hide what’s the issue?
Not an issue particularly going into a football stadium but if it was happening to me on a regular basis while I was just going about my daily business I would probably get pissed off.

Seems a bit odd that those who refused to be searched were just allowed in, you’d think that would raise concerns that they’re hiding something. Makes the whole thing a bit pointless.

They don't they need reasonable suspicion ... Abused by the police on occasion but thats the law .. By buying a ticket I suspect you submit to being searched in the T&C's if requested but to attempt to search everyone is ridiculous. We all know where the crap on the pitch comes from- Concentrate the efforts at that area ..
Stewards are stopping people moving from the South and West towards the North. Maybe that was because people were going unsearched from those areas, avoiding the checks in the North, which everyone knows is the problem area for chucking stuff.

On gate 8 the stewards would only allow females in the queue. They were patting the males down on gate 7. Couple of guys told him not to try touching them, he just moved on to the next one in line.
Really? In which case they should have been refused entry.

Searching going in to matches has become part and parcel of a fans' routine for years.
At Chelsea away I was searched 4 times before I got through the turnstile.

Our ground regulations:

6 All persons seeking entrance to the Ground acknowledge the Club’s right to search any person entering the Ground and to refuse entry to or eject from the Ground any person refusing to submit to such a search.

Don’t remember (not great stock in memory) ever having being searched at Bloomfield road, wasn’t on Saturday.
Last time searched away at Charlton, and quite thorough.

I asked the one searching me ( After a female steward was refusing to search males ) did he think I had an atom bomb under my hat, I was given a look to kill, what a jolly gentleman he was

What a stupid o/p everyone should be searched going into any event I was yesterday and it wasn't at BR and fully expected.
Couldn't care less what age you are either no one gets away with it getting into an airport same at most venue's.

They searched a young girl in front of me on account she was wearing a padded coat.
They said it was policy from now on as they were searching for flares specifically (not the trousers 😂 obviously).
By the way; are they flares or smoke bombs these days and, apart from inhalation, are they harmful?
Genuine question.

Because parents don't want somebody unnecessarily touching their child's body.
I don't believe they were searching very young kids and assuming they have proper parents who care I am sure the people searching were being watched by the parent . As far as I am concerned anyone over 12 can and sometimes are daft enough to bring in a smoke bomb or firework in. They weren't doing strip searches you know.

Who said they were?

Sad state of affairs when we need to search people at events but that’s how it is.

How rubbish is that.

The clubs have to sell the most harmful drug in the world in order to be able to pay enough stewards to search people for other drugs before they come in. Couldn’t make it up.

I've no problem with searches as that is a condition of entry that you may be subject to one.
The problem with the searches is the inconsistency with them. In my section in the West on one turnstile a male steward was searching all the males but, rightly, not the females but the female steward on the next turnstile was not searching anyone?
Why wasn't she searching the females?
None of the men on the female stewards side were searched which kind of defeats the object.
Can understand searches in the North and to a lesser extent the South but I don't recall ever seeing a flare or bottle etc on the pitch from the West.

Don’t they have dogs that can smell pyrotechnics, surely more effective and less invasive, win-win for everyone
Pretty sure we have 16 home turnstiles plus those for the away fans. How many trained dogs are with Lancashire police, notwithstanding security is with a private security firm paying minimum wage?

We’ve had them for a few games in the past, particularly in south checking the away fans. Wouldn’t have a dog on each turnstile. The idea is the dog patrols the queues. It won’t happen anyway

They only need to search the away end and the north the rest of the ground are law abiding citizens

From the sound of things you've very little under your hat. Why not just stfu and let them do their job without stupid comments?

I was attempting to make a light joke out of it but he had the charisma of a dead rat. A bit of personality wud help
