An update video has been issued by Oxford Archaeology and news that some the finds will go on display.

'A 6,000-year-old elm tree leaf and stone age tools giving a glimpse of early life on a watery Fylde peninsula thousands of years ago will go on display for the first time next month.

The significant remains, some dating all the way back to the Stone Age, are to feature in two Highways England public information events being staged to update local residents and drivers on progress with the £100 million A585 Windy Harbour to Skippool bypass and junction improvement project near Poulton-le-Fylde in west Lancashire.

The two public information events are on Friday 6th March (12.30pm to 8pm) at Wyre Civic Centre, Breck Road, Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire and on Saturday 7th March (10am to 6pm) at Singleton Village Hall, Station Road, Singleton, FY6 8LL. As well as displaying some of the archaeology finds they will give people an idea of likely traffic management and milestones for the project.'

( Not sure how the Civic Centre will fit in with the vaccination jabs process that is taking place on site)

At 2 hours long I haven't watched it all yet but at the 1 hour mark you can see how large is the team on site.

Thanks for that.
I’ll pop along. Not so much for the Stone Age finds, but to ask why they are closing the main road further up. Incompetent fools.

Have you seen the section they plan to close? Not many have. They are trying to force all cars onto the bypass.
Add to that - I thought the bypass would logically go from Skipool roundabout to the M55 junction - not to a bit further up the main road on that narrow section before the 40 mph zone. 😧

Yes, they are creating a short stretch of dual carriageway between single lane roads. The M55 link option was explored over the past 25 years but always rejected.

BREAKING NEWS - All called off after articles found were traced back to falling out of Davpicks pocket when he pulled a hanky out to blow his nose on a walk in the area!! 🦖 😉

A watery Fylde peninsular...

So does that mean that even back then flood defences weren't really adequate, and there was a huge fixture pile up due to postponements? Seems to me we haven't really moved forward much in 6,000 years.
The reason the area has large shale deposits is glacial retreat/meltwater from the last ice age which ended 10000 years ago. Hence the watery peninsular.

A very young Owen Oyston could have prevented this watery abyss that is now known as the Fylde if he had paid Fylde Coast Neanderthal Irrigations PLC the going rate of 2 stags and a woolly mammoth.

That update was published last year by Oxford Archaeology, February 2020.

Not exactly bang up to date Complete Control. You should be the previous single, Remote Control!

Wrote to Highways England many moons before their Skippool to Norcross connection.
Suggested a flyover from entry to exit, with appropriate offshoots.
I mentioned a flyover would have had lower impact of works near residential areas versus a possible, two, 15 month roundabout constructions -
This could have kept local roads at Norcross areas running locally - no need for ridiculous traffic signalling & roundabout construction.
Norcross roundabout is now a crazy anathema but good luck when Skippool roundabout change begins.
I challenge anybody -
....Civil Engineer, Highway Planner : traffic Consultant : Architect :, etc.,..
....that maybe when the Skippool roundabout works have been completed, then, maybe a flyover would have been a more expedient option.
For info, I am not local to these projects, just a road user...
