Vaccine...

Forgive my ignorance on this subject, but if a vaccine was made for this coronavirus would it mean everyone in the world would have to have it to prevent anyone catching it. And would this have to be done like the yearly flu vaccination of people?.
Would it not be more beneficial to find a cure for the symptoms caused by the virus. I know prevention is better but would a cure not be cheaper and quicker to find???
Sorry to ask such a silly question, but there are some very well read and intelligent people on this site.
Not a silly question at all 👍
I think that as there isn’t a cure for any flu strain apart from antibiotics for bacterial ailments then a cure for this viral strain, like most other flu strains is highly unlikely in the short or long term.
Therefore vaccination and prevention is probably the only viable option for now.

l believe the answer is yes to the vaccine (when found) like flu etc, but the likelihood of a cure is optimistic. A cure for even a common cold (another strain of coronavirus) has not yet been found and for many other diseases.

Immunity is going to be the only way they know it but cannot say it in black and white .Basically it's what they are doing spreading the infection over a long period so the NHS can try to treat everyone .They have said it a thousand times very clearly but people seem to have no common sense at the moment and can't seem to be able to understand plain English .Day after day people are asking the same questions to answers they have already had

That

That’s how I perceive it 👍

Not everyone would have to have it. The number depends on what they decide the R value is in a population with no immunity. Somewhere around 60-70% should result in herd immunity.

The working assumption needs to be there will be no vaccine, even the WHO have said we're likely to have to learn to live with it.

A slow, staggered return the the new normal is needed.

p.s. still cant get the builders who are doing my extension back 😞

Once they hit you with a vaccine, then they've got you by the jaffas. And they can control everything you do. And they know everywhere you go. And everything you buy. I wouldn't want that...

Like flu virus, a coronavirus vaccine would be for the vulnerable and specific groups like health carecworkers.
