Very difficult BFC FA Cup Trivia Question.

Post WW1, Blackpool played a 3rd FA Cup tie against a team who had already scored 37 goals in that seasons FA Cup competition. It's not a trick question. Over to you......

No answer as yet tho I have discovered that Kettering are the FA Cup’s top scorers with 891 goals (to end of 2019-20 season

I don't know but Huddersfield were the big cheese in the 1920s, so I'll say them.

Given the number of goals scored it would imply they had been in that seasons competition for quite a few rounds.

I'll go for Cheltenham 1933/34 - not found any article yet but saw they had a biggest win 12-0 a season later so a good chance they were hitting big numbers the season before.

I thought it’d be one of the two and plumped for bloody Margate.

Cheltenham is correct. They played 10 matches including two replays before the 3rd round. They started in early Sept in the extra preliminary round and along the way had a 10-1 win in one of the qualifying rounds.

That link I posted about the Margate game is well worth a read if you like BFC history. It has newspaper clippings from before and after the game. Interesting that it mentions BFC are 'particularly fortunate in receiving a substantial grant each year from Blackpool Town Council'. Never knew that.
