Very surprised

Thought the amount of signings Grayson made suggested he had the backing of the board and owner. Anyone else think it’s very strange to sign so many players and then pot the manager a few weeks after? Strange considering If gills hadn’t scored with the last kick of the game Grayson probably would have still been in the job.

Yep, I'm really surprised for the same reasons. He's only just put a real squad together. I won't say I'm unhappy because performances and results have been dire, but I really thought he'd get more time given the signings and the slightly improved performances in the last two games. If "fans" really were singing about us being shit last night, then I wonder how much of an effect that had.

There was literally no signs of improvement as far as i could see;
Players heads down as soon as we concede.
No motivation from gutless Larry.
No proactive subs or alterations in tactics.

It'll take a brave (or stupid) club to give him another chance.

Athers I literally gave the reasons for my surprise in the O/P. I know the form hasn’t been good enough.

I’m not even sure they were his players they brought in tbh. Tommy Johnson and Ben Mansford may be identifying targets and Grayson may have had no say

With the quality that we've brought in, a decent progressive manager will be more than happy with the squad that he inherits. Larry was far too defensive albeit you wouldn't know that from last nights second half collapse !

I agree its bizarre that he's been allowed to spearhead our busiest ever transfer window both in and out for us to sack him 2 games after the window closes.

Like others have said, I'm not unhappy with the decision it just seems a waste of the clubs time and resources.

Loans and frees, hardly the biggest investment.

This season appears to be a proving ground before big investments are made.

The loan signings of Bola, Ronan, Moore and DH were no brainers, regardless of who was in charge.

Tilt and Thompson would have been on their way out, as above, no matter who the gaffer was.

The actual signings won't have been overly expensive, Madine aside, who again like the other 4 was a quality addition.

We'll be a more exciting opportunity for potential managers because of the January window signings.

I'm surprised too - thought he'd be given another 12 months or so (or at least the start of next season to get things going in the right direction), especially given that the squad is almost completely new.
Is Saddler trigger happy and will hire and fire in an instant - not sure if that is a good thing - personally I feel he should give the managers a bit of time to prove themselves. For instance, say Nathan Jones is appointed and is not an instant success (some Luton fans may say that Harford had more to do with their success and he was sh1t3 at Stoke) - how long does he get 3 months?, 6 months? etc.
Most successful clubs have a stable structure in place and that includes the manager. I can see that the club is changing for the better all the time, I just hope the next appointment gets a good chance

Football is a strange game like that - you can be given all the money and all the support and I think bring together a decent collection of players but unless they gel in a very short space of time, you're on your bike.
