Visitors to Blackpool.

Hi all.
Greater Manchester resident here.
Physically fit, mid 50's.
For at least the last 20 years, probably longer, I have visited Blackpool around this time of year, stayed over a couple of nights and walked along the prom Fleetwood to Starr Gate and last year did Starr Gate to Lytham along the beach too.
Spent money in the area, hotel/b and b, food, beer and a little early Xmas shopping.
Penciled in Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday next week and have annual leave booked.
Throwing it over to you guys, it's your town, do you want me, or others, to visit?

No strong opinion either way. Fact is Blackpool residents visit other areas.
Think you'll get a mixed bag of responses.
Btw, how did you locate this forum to post your message?

Thought the Blackpool Gazette might have a forum, but couldn't see one.
All footy clubs have a forum, so it seemed the next logical step.

No problem for me either, it’s the ones who come and don’t care about following the rules that worry us. That said, there’s plenty of locals who don’t bother either. Only issue may be is that we’re likely to be in tier 3 later today.

We want you our town depends on tourists for the economy which employs thousands.
I went to Manchester shopping last week what's the difference no enjoy your time here on the Gold Coast. 👍

If you get COVID just don’t go crying to the media you got it on Blackpool 😄other than that crack on mate And enjoy .

I'm a BFC news super-spreader in Gtr Manchester.

If you want to spend the next month or 5, suffering from Covid 19 then yeah fine come along, the place is rife with that shit. If it was me I wouldn't bother. We will probably be i a lockdown anyway.

Yes come, I've walked Fleetwood to Lytham, great walk, bring your so'wester going to be wet and windy next week.

If you flout the advisories they soon become mandatory. No wonder we’re in this mess when some do whatever they want to “bend” the guidelines.

It’s a joke, the advisories need to be mandatory now to save lives.
Not disputing that Cruzzer. I've looked at the new rules and it occurs to me that the only real difference is no garden 'gatherings' and the pubs are shut.

The full list;

Local COVID alert level: very high

This is for areas with a very high level of infections and where tighter restrictions are in place. The restrictions placed on areas with a very high level of infections can vary, and are based on discussions between central and local government. You should therefore check the specific rules in your area.

At a minimum, this means:

  • you must not socialise with anybody you do not live with or have formed a support bubble with, in any indoor setting or in any private garden or at most outdoor hospitality venues and ticketed events
  • you must not socialise in a group of more than 6 in an outdoor public space such as a park or beach, the countryside, a public garden or a sports venue
  • pubs and bars must close; they can only remain open where they operate as if they were a restaurant, which means serving substantial meals, like a main lunchtime or evening meal, and they may only serve alcohol as part of such a meal
  • schools and universities remain open
  • places of worship remain open, but household mixing is not permitted
  • weddings and funerals can go ahead with restrictions on the number of attendees; however, wedding receptions are not allowed
  • exercise classes and organised sport can continue to take place outdoors; these will only be permitted indoors if it is possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live with (or share a support bubble with), or for youth or disability sport
  • you should try to avoid travelling outside the very high alert level area you are in or entering a very high alert level area, other than for things like work, education or youth services, to meet caring responsibilities or if you are travelling through as part of a longer journey
  • you should avoid staying overnight in another part of the UK if you are resident in a very high alert level area, or avoid staying overnight in a very high alert level area if you are resident elsewhere
You must:

You should continue to:

  • follow social distancing rules
  • work from home where you can effectively do so
  • travel to venues or amenities that are open, for work or to access education, but aim to reduce the number of journeys you make
This is the baseline in very high alert level areas. The government will also seek to agree additional interventions in consultation with local authorities, in order to reduce the spread of the virus. These could include the following options:

  • restrictions preventing the sale of alcohol in hospitality or closing all hospitality (except takeaway and delivery)
  • closing indoor and outdoor entertainment venues and tourist attractions
  • closing venues such as leisure centres and gyms (while ensuring provision remains available for elite athletes, youth and disabled sport and physical activity)
  • closing public buildings, such as libraries and community centres (while ensuring provision remains available for youth and childcare activities and support groups)
  • closing personal care and close contact services or prohibiting the highest-risk activities
  • closing performing arts venues for the purposes of performing to audiences
You should therefore check whether additional restrictions apply in your area.

Your views are your views..that is what is known as an opinion
The facts are the facts
IT IS ADVISORY, IT IS GUIDANCE. IT IS NOT THE LAW
That is all I was saying....and I am correct

Hotels are open: attractions on the Prom are open: there will be the usual queues outside McD; Harry Ramsdens; all the Wetherspoons; Yates'. The trams will be heaving with plenty of people wearing masks around their chins...so nothing will change except you won't be able to get a beer in the Mitre, Pug, Hogarth's and The Galleon in the Town Centre..
The advice for restaurants is that alcohol can be served with a main meal but you can't treat them like pubs. I can't see Wetherspoons chucking anyone out unless there's loads waiting to get in. I also can't see other day restaurants/ eateries throwing people out either...beer, main course, beer, dessert, beer etc etc.
This is a nothing policy.

Had a hotel full of our Scottish friends this weekend and was able to serve food during the old firm game. Very difficult to stick to the tier3 rules I have to say. Very challenging to manage guests intent on getting hammered. We got through it but glad it’s Sunday. Had two visits from council wardens but they found everything to be in order. Very tough working conditions.

Well done Hadley 👏 It can’t be easy managing those who’ve had a skin full.

Very hard work Hadley. We also had council enforcement visits at the hotel and they found everything in order. But. Somebody had told them we had an underground bar. Some jealous people about in this world we live in.
We have a few rooms out next weekend then the others have all cancelled up to 21st November.😪😪

Sorry to hear that Michelle. Let’s hope there’s some form of support forthcoming.

What's the earliest date your tier 3 status will be reviewed.

Greater Manchester now in, and it's as clear as mud to me when the first review will be!

Hi all.

What do you think will happen on the 03rd December.

Appears your daily rate 7 day rolling average of infections is reducing.

Will lockdown be relaxed.

To coin a phrase, 'what's the word on the street'.

Thanks.

Personally I think although going in the right direction I think we still have to go some over the next couple of weeks if we’re to see lockdown restrictions lifted and even then once/if they are lifted I still can’t see Pubs/Restaurants, Gyms opening up anytime soon, might be another 2 weeks after or just prior to the run up to Christmas week.

Nothing will change for me, I have been on lockdown since March, and will continue to do so until a recieve the vaccine. No iterest in going to pubs / restaurants until it's safe to so. Will continue to order food shopping online. No interest really what others want or will do to be honest as long as they keep away from me.

Just been to Asda in Fleetwood again on a Sunday, only because I had to. Absolutely packed and in one aisle we were in there was a young couple without masks, a single young bloke with no mask and another guy, probably mid fifties with his mask under his chin.
