Walking Lands End to John O Groats

I’m not sure if this is allowed so I’ll remove if any problems.

I haven’t been on AVFTT for a while as I’m off on an adventure!

Five weeks ago I set off on foot from Lands End for a solo walk to John O Groats - camping where possible. I think it will take around 3 months and should finish by the end of June. I’ve done around 500 miles and I’m currently in Diggle just north of Manchester - crossing into Yorkshire tomorrow.

Although I’m doing it as a challenge, I’m also taking the opportunity of raising some cash for Bowel CancerUK.

It’s a disease that I have personal experience of and it has also affected other family and friends.

I realise that times are tough for many and that charity donations may be off the cards as a result. However If you can spare anything, every penny will be going to the charity - the walk is completely self-funded.

If you aren’t in a position to contribute, then don't worry.

I’ve linked the Just Giving page (set up by my wife) and this also contains a link to a daily update if you do Facebook.

Again if this post breaks any AVFTT rules I’ll remove it.

Thanks for reading.

Done. Brilliant effort for a very worthy cause.
Hope the rest of your adventure runs smoothly 👍

Hi SS.
I take it you are walking the Pennine Way now?
Between the A 640 and A 672 near White Hill is a boundary stone marking the most easterly point in Lancashire. My group, the Friends of Real Lancashire installed it in 2015. It’s on the Lancashire / Yorkshire Boundary. If you take a photo of yourself stood next to it, I’ll put it into our next magazine although won’t be until November now. Although I could tweet it and put on Facebook etc now. I’ll willingly give you a donation. You should pass the stone tomorrow. If you reach the M62, you’ve missed it well and truly!
All the best.

Here is my instagram photo of the boundary marker. It must have taken some work to get that stone to its location.

Quickest way to reduce size is to take a screenshot of the photo, crop it and it should be fine for here. You might want to email the better quality photo to MartonBornandBred for the Nov magazine.

Good luck and safe journey. Great effort this. 👍

Well I finished the walk a few days ago and am back home now.

1,112 miles over 73 walking days with 10 rest days.

What a fantastic time - I'd recommend to anyone who has a spare 3 months :)

Thank you for all the donations to the Bowel Cancer UK JustGiving page - so far it's raised £4,800 which is way more than I'd hoped for.

The JustGiving page also contains a link to the daily Facebook updates if you use FB.
