Watching the game from the touchline

It's always puzzled me why most managers (head coaches) watch the game from the technical area.

Having watched the game for more years than I care to remember I've worked out that you get a far better view of the game from up in the stand. Rugby coaches watch the game from the stand and give instructions, via radio, to the bench. Why do you think that so few football managers do the same?

Because if they do something different most fans will criticize them as soon as they dont win.

Good point, and in normal times, you see Managers on the touchline, with a 30,000 crowd making a noise, cupping their hands, and trying to shout a message to a player who can never hear him.
Get a loud hailer!

Ben Burgess is a good commentator, an absolutely lovely fella, a very genuine and down to earth man, and he’s made Blackpool his home. He’s now one of us and on top of that he’s an ex player and a big part of one of our greatest ever teams. Ben Burgess probably needs to be given a bit more respect and attention from us as a club and fans if truth be told.

In modern football very few players will leave the game and go on to live and work in that same community - especially as a school teacher ! More ex players like him are what will make Blackpool that bit more special. I can garuantee most of his students are Seasiders now if they werent already. What a fabulous asset he is to the club.

What a great post. Some humans are special and deserve recognition.

The OP has a good point that I have always thought of, you see the game a lot better from high up...
