We are doing everything right

For the first time in my lifetime the club is being run right from top to bottom, an impressive back room team of good people assembled by the best owner we could of ever dreamt of only a short time ago. we have invested in a top top coach and exciting talented young players who intent on trying to play total football, it won’t happen overnight but we are not far off, we have taken giants steps forward as a club in the last 12 months. They now deserve 100% support from the fans, sit back, be happy and enjoy the ride, this club is on the up.

Can’t agree more Hazi but apparantly there are quite a few numpties on the board who appear to be wanting to throw themselves off the top of the tower if Critchley doesn’t resign after such a shocking result and performance at PA today!

Most supporters do back players to be fair. It's the ones with only half a brain, probably hang out down central drive who are the ones that slate players. I'm all for constructive criticism but not slating them.

I am looking forward to this season. I feel that when the team settles we can be as good as anyone in this league. I do have one or two concerns such as the right side of defence but I also believe we have a manager and owner whom can work on any problem areas.

Madine should have come on.....
Yates wouldnt have scored if he was still playing now....
It was just one of those days for him...
The longer you go without scoring in open play the more anxious you get.....

I have too many questions.

Is our much maligned defence more oven ready than our much vaunted attack?
Does Yates offer more than Hardie?
Will Lubala be an upgrade on Kaikai?
Why is Shaw not deemed good enough for the match day squad when he clearly is?
Why move Robson to left back when Shaw could come on if selected?
Is Ward a luxury player?
Could Sarkic have unpicked the packed defence?
How does Accrington create a team out of nothing?
Is Michael Appleton a good manager/coach?

What is blatantly obvious is that this team / squad will fall short until a decent centre back and goalscorer are signed. A shaky central defence and 3 competitive games without a goal backs up the argument.

Doing everything right, I don't think so!
That is 5 games under NC and we have scored one goal (and that was in a defeat)
Are you simple?

The first two were with an awful team inherited. The next two with a team that had only just started to play together and the last but not least, the first game of a brand new season.

Fans expecting miracles immediately are grossly naive and anyone calling all doom and gloom already must lead a very sad, sad life full of pessimism.

We have no given right to win games but as long as the club continues to do the right things then the wins will come. Patience grasshopper

Some very interesting questions Voy, just to pick a few of them out , I'm gonna guess that Shaw will force his way into the squad and team fairly soon .
Yates had a very good season with Swindon albeit in League Two last time out while Hardie had largely the season from hell until Ryan Lowe came calling. It just shows how football can go ..
BTW watching the highlights of the Accy game , beats me how they do it ! That striker they've got onloan from Chelsea looks good .
NC might land on his best team over the coming weeks inadvertently, if we can just get a goal or two that could make a world of difference

I think it’s seriously unfair to include Fleetwood and Tranmere in your judgement of Critch considering he’d been in the door a week and was managing a squad that wasn’t his.

He’s actually a midfielder. Took his goal really well. Put our lot to shame with that finish. (He got a hat trick midweek as well.) Also a fantastic finish from Dion Charles who we let go on a free at 18. We need to take Accy very seriously in the upcoming cup game.

Just had a quick look on the Accy website, Tarik Uwakwe is 20 , maybe age really is no barrier ? Oh and yep , knowing we released ( or 'they' released ) Dion Charles is becoming a little painful .
Interesting to read their manager has told them if they're anywhere near the box then take a shot, sounds like reasonable advice ..

There are some extremes of opinion here at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Some saying everything is fine you can`t judge on so few games, the others very concerned at our vulnerable looking defence and even more so about our inability to convert possession into goals under Critchley.

Actually they are both right to some degree but also wrong to some degree.

There are certainly some causes for concern as goals win you games and so far Critchleys teams aren`t producing any and there are also clear concerns about our central defenders but of course you can`t judge any team or manager on just a handful of games so the jury must remain out until we have considerably more evidence on which to return a reliable verdict. We have to hope we can quickly turn things round.

You neither win a division or get relegated after one game.
If we're still in this position after 10 or 11 matches then I'll start getting worried.
I honestly think that after ten or eleven matches we will be in, at least the top half of the table and genuinely challenging for a playoff spot.

I suspect the majority of Pool fans think the same. Great post.

You would hope so, but you do wonder looking at some of the comments on here after the game. The sooner we can all get back to the games the better, no better 12th man than Blackpool fans all singing from the same hymn sheet. UTMP

Yeah, very true... Especially when fans get on his back from minute one.

The midfield/attack is part of why the defence does ok. We keep the ball well, don't turn over possession cheaply and defend from the front.

Yates offers more than Hardie as a team player. As a goal scorer, maybe not but he looked very poor and prone to wander about not influencing the game at all when I've seen him. He's a different player at Plymouth but I can only judge on a few minutes YouTube clips.

Lubala is nowhere near the all round player Kaikai is. He has probably got more application but Kaikai is far more attuned to the team game. It'll depend how Bez adapts to not simply "running and shooting" every single time.

Shaw, not sure, I agree totally.

Ward wasn't a luxury on sat, he's the fit midfielder who fits the space in the team when Virtue has been out and Sarkic is crocked. I think if everyone is fit, I'd play Ward or Keshi, not both. If everything is in the right place, maybe he is.

Maybe Sarkic is the missing link. There was one and it might have been him.

Coleman knows exactly what he wants and is little short of genius in what he does. Critch knows how to coach, for sure, and seems very certain but he's not yet learned what mistakes he's made. Accy have an odd strength in their position, like we had in KO years, in that no player goes there for the luxury, but in that austerity, there's a chance for players who might not otherwise get one and if you get the right characters they thrive.

Appleton. I dunno. I think he'll take a team so far but no further. He's sort of an anti Critch in a way. When he had us, he didn't seem to want to work with what he had (a load of flair and a recent history of great football) and to apply a strict and very organised system and grind it out with hard work. Seems that way everytime I've seen his work since. It'll work sometimes.

Wow thanks for the answers. They are genuine questions, not rhetorical ones.

I think you are right, our possession football protects the defence, which is the plan, I'm sure.

Yates closes down well, really grafts, but somehow he's not getting chances very often at all. I worry about his lack of pace. It's not everything, but speed to the ball would be useful.

Interesting Lubala comments. I've seen so little of him. How do you know this? Seems too soon to judge?

Ward or Keshi. I agree.

Sarkic has ability. I hope NC works out how to use it.

Coleman does seem to possess genius. How does he assess these loan signings?

Appleton. He spooks me out a bit. I can't see him being able to keep a squad happy and sorted for a long time, his personality must be hard to be around for any length of time?!

Lubala at the moment looks like someone who is trying to bridge the gap from L2 rather than push the first XI for their places.
