We are doing everything right

I completely agree. I don’t think he’s done anything to warrant inclusion in the first XI so far and would like to see Sarkic played in the same position or even Antwi given some game time if Robson can step a little further up
I like ward
Proven at Championship level

It's a cliche in football that managers usually hit the jackpot (if they hit it at all) in their second (full) season in charge. That would be 2021/22 for NC then, and he should be afforded at least that time to deliver on SS's projections, without any knee jerk reactions from fans.

Alot of Blackpool supporters are arseholes and have seriously done my head in with all their negativity crap. People need to be patient and wait for us to click.

Interesting hearing people’s thoughts on this now we’re 7 games in, cup and league.

Something I’ve been thinking is, perhaps Critch just needs to keep it simple. ie Robson you just sit here with Williams or Virtue or who ever you don’t have to go chasing all over the place to get the ball, just protect the centre backs.

Like wise with Anderson, just operate between the centre circle and the 18 yard box feed balls into the front three, shoot when you can.

It looks slightly Like they’re receiving a thousand instructions per training sessions and can’t stick to all of them during a game.

Something I’ve often heard about top mangers or players dropping down to manage in the lower leagues is, they come with fantastic methods and ideas but it all falls down and fails because the players arnt up to that level of understanding and execution.

Not that I’m saying it’s failing, it’s too early for that. But sometimes it’s the simple things in life.

Really good post that Rekt and something i believe is often very true i.e. coaches hugely overcomplicate things and pay the price for it. It's all well and good having a 'style' that you think is great, but styles usually depend on having players that suit the tasks their being asked to do. Let Keith Southern press, tackle and work his socks off and he was great. Ask him to get on the ball and create chances and you're barking up the wrong tree...
I think this was definitely what let Grayson down last season. There were so many times when he set up the team and you really couldn't see what the shape or system was. So is it any wonder the players couldn't adapt? Contrast to his first spell with us where you could see where each player fitted in.

As a club we are still doing everything right, no given right to win games but we will sooner rather than later

There’s a fair few who get very easily carried away with new dawns, new players, and new head coaches too and they are equally irritating to sit next to and listen to. I had to endure one guy who was the number 1 member of the John O Kane fan club who kept telling us we knew nothing about football and his positional play was top flight. And one guy who kept telling me Hendry was the next Alex Ferguson.

I like to think of this season as a 12 month pre-season ready for the main event next year 😄

This board is depressing reading, lest not forget we have ousted the Odious Oystons, have a wonderful ambitious owner in Saddler who has already heavily invested into the club. We are on the up albeit with a stuttering start on the field. Keep the faith UTMP

Last night still looked the better side despite having 9 men at the end. Keep the faith UTMP

I know this will sound controversial but I actually think we're doing most things right on the pitch as well. I just think Critchley has had zero luck. Teams are defending backs against the wall to us, all the managers are saying we'll be a decent team, we have the players who should be doing better and we have shown in games (even on Tuesday before they scored and the sending off) that we can look a decent side. We just are not getting any luck and I think we need a big old slice of that in the next week for things to click in to place.

Agreed maths we are not far off

My concern is that we actually played better in the pre season games, the passing for a start was better. I do feel that maybe Critchley requires some experience beside him even if only for 6 months, some old head who knows the division. I really want it to work out for Critchley and I am certainly not pushing for him to go. I also think work is needed on the crossing and pull backs into the box they rarely go anywhere near any of the oncoming forwards and midfielders OK apart from kai Kai the other day but that was a one off.

A good appointment by the club in CC, in Saddler I trust to do the right thing by BFC.

For the first time in my lifetime the club is being run right from top to bottom, an impressive back room team of good people assembled by the best owner we could of ever dreamt of only a short time ago. we have invested in a top top coach and exciting talented young players who intent on trying to play total football, it won’t happen overnight but we are not far off, we have taken giants steps forward as a club in the last 12 months. They now deserve 100% support from the fans, sit back, be happy and enjoy the ride, this club is on the up.
I had a funny feeling this would be one of those threads that ages well Dad 😂

No doubt in my mind that what we are seeing now is a shadow of where we will end up.
The potential of players like Ekpiteta, Yates, CJ etc bodes very well for our future.

Anyone else relieved that we didn't have anyone in the stadium for those opening 3 months. We have some really impatient fans and I bet a few of them, based on what I read especially on social media, would have been giving Critchers pelters.
Yes indeed. And they will never change or learn. Because apparently they were right! 🤣

The very same people wanting him out ,stating out of his depth etc now talking about automatic again. Why cant people just enjoy the progression . Why do they always think its all or nothing.
Fans get carried away by a bit of success. Some think the jobs done already and it was always going to be that way.

Yet...a run of poor debates and performances followed by a run of great wins is where we are at now. If it’s followed by a run of mediocrity or another run of poor defeats when we go behind then people will still be calling for changes to get back to winning ways. If we keep winning people will get carried away.

The thread was started on Sep 12. Think it's pretty obvious to say that back then we were NOT doing everything right. Results back then and in the following weeks told you that. It needed Critchley to significantly change the way we played. And that is what he has done. We now look to be a pretty decent team and making good progress. Just need to be a bit more clinical in taking our chances. The team is evolving as is Critchley.
But yep, I'd say now we are doing everything right. And that's all that matters.

Resting the first team, giving all the squad players a run out, didn't lose in 90 mins. Still doing everything right. UTMP

The improvements at our club are great both off the field and more recently on the field and for that we are truly grateful but to think we are doing EVERYTHING right (no-one ever does everything right) can never be the way to build on that progress and is dangerously complacent. If you stand still in life whilst admiring how good you are others will quickly overtake you.

In another sport Mercedes have got to the top in Formula 1 and remained there for some years by constantly searching to improve and never relaxing, resting on their laurels or being complacent, never giving their rivals the chance to catch them up or overtake them.

The way forward must surely be to build on our excellent progress thus far by always seeking further improvement in every aspect of the way the club is run with constant scrutiny to keep moving on and avoid the pitfall of complacency undermining or slowing the impressive progress that`s so far been achieved.

Surely the most important part of "doing everything right" is continuing to drive to find improvements. The pursuit of marginal gains is fundamental to getting everything right and are not mutually exclusive concepts. I'd go as far to say they are two sides of the same coin.

It appears with all these investment on and off the field; particularly the commercial arrangement with 'eleven' which gives us access to data analysis far beyond a League One club would normally get, we appear to searching for those marginal gains - it's brilliant.

In doing everything right this includes continuing to improve in any way we can and we most certainly are. I am not saying it is all perfect we can rest on our laurels, I’m saying the club is being run professionally from top to bottom with clubs best interests at heart, this will ultimately deliver success on the pitch.

So we draw a game and the doom mongers sharpen the knives again. We are still on a tremendous run, we are still going up this season, we are still doing everything right. UTMP

I think the phrase 'marginal gains' has been tainted by Team Sky! Now brings brown envelopes and doctors to mind.

We better not go down that road....

If it got us to the top flight, I'd be tempted to turn a blind eye 😁

Let's just be better than yesterday and eventually we will get there 👍
