Well done Liverpool for admitting they got it wrong.

Well done for noticing that City and United didn't furlough staff, so your PR department acted like you were a big club.
And that's a perfect point. If united did this first then the backlash would have been unbelievable. I thought Liverpool have got away with it, because they are Liverpool and untouchable throughout most of the media.

But they still accepted they were wrong.

Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth and Norwich City turn now.
Said from day one the staff it affects will all be on average wages and a small cut of players salaries(not the 30% banded around)would pay for it or take some from your huge profits.

You're now free to turn your venom on Spurs, Newcastle and the other clubs who announced they are going to furlough staff.

Obviously they read my blog... and the other 500 similar articles in the national press, the twitter storm and their own fans raging...

It's a fair point. I think Liverpool got the ire tho, because they sell themselves as some sort of spiritually pure team of the people whereas it's literally what you'd expect Ashley (and to a marginally lesser extent) Levy to do.

It's the hypocrisy of it that wound me up.

It's most definitely something Levy would do and no doubt he'll attempt to justify it by saying he's got a brand new stadium to pay for. He's bang out of order.

Agreed. They all are. Unfortunately Ashley almost gets a free pass because he's beyond contempt.

A good point on a podcast I heard today was that probably some clubs will row back when they realise that they save a million but it cost them 2 million in PR to save face.

Ashley doesn't care about PR!

I can see your point. It's also worth pointing out that they don't have 'The Peoples Club' emblazoned in huge letters on the side of their stadium. That's another Merseyside club. 😉 I think it's fair to say though that there are many football club owners with suspect morals. It's a huge money making business and the majority aren't in it for the love of the clubs.
They're ruthless and in it for the money. And Liverpool's owners, even though they've overseen success, are no different. Ruthless American capitaIists. I think we saw a fair bit of that lack of morality here at Blackpool didn't we.
