Were you watching Mr. Critchley ?

Were you watching the mighty Barnsley , Oxford and Peterborough battle it out in the playoffs .
Were you quaking as you watched their slick , cohesive football ? Wondering how far ahead of us they were in skill , desire and technical ability ?
Because I watched all their matches and was even more frustrated that none of them were better than us. In the main , all three were patchy , unimpressive and there for the taking . Did you not think ,' we could have played any of the three and whupped them if we'd played to our strengths ? I did .
Bit more ambition , better tactics and more player freedom next season please. Surprise us with a decent signing or two and let them play in their preferred position with freedom .
N.B I haven't mentioned Bolton as I suspect that they're marginally better than the other 3

We had 2 opportunities to potentially reach wembley which negative critch failed, I really do believe next season will be successful for the pool but without him!! only time will tell.

I don't think we'd have been promoted and so am grateful for the fact that was a sizeable chunk of money on home and away games and God forbid a final that I've saved on. I could just imagine us getting to the final and our only fit striker was Jake Beesley 🤪

So you're basically saying if patchy unimpressive football makes the play offs then we had the right tactics?

The truth is Peterborough are basically a pretty good footballing team, whereas Oxford are pretty boring to watch and yet Oxford are in the final. That’s football for you.

Fair point. I was thinking more that if Critchley hadn't been so fearful of what he thought other teams could do and not have set us up in just a timid , sideways non attacking style then we could have indeed been in the final . Plus if we had played slightly less patchy unimpressive football than we did we'd have made the final.
I'm not saying I was happy with it . I remember watching every game we played in the prem. And it didn't feel like I could draw breath until the final whistle blew . Oh for anything like that sort of football and that level of excitement again

lol you're basing that on, I presume our performance in a knock out tie as opposed to our league performances that got us there?
