West Stand Concourse/Attn of SLO?

Would it be possible for the club to encourage people to drink between the North and West Stands where there's a huge area waiting to be used. Underneath the West Stand closest to the North today was pretty impossible to queue in, get to the loo and just walk through.

People were getting narky cos their drinks kept being knocked out of their hands and I looked at joining the hot drink queue but didn't have a clue where it actually started as it was just a mound of bodies!

Clearing out those who have purchased their drinks/food or those who just gather down there for a chat would at least free up some space.

Is the SLO on here yet?

I agree that the concourse area under block K is a nightmare at times, I would definitely support an extension to the alcohol consumption zone

Can I agree with all this! That concourse area is ridiculous at half time and sadly it’s why so many people leave their seats before half time (which is bloody annoying!)

The concourses are too small, a legacy of the previous regime, I'm not sure what can he done.
Never been in the South concourse (always been West or North) but that looks quite roomy and better equipped. Anyone go in the West Stand towards the South - numbers would suggest that is a bit quieter. That said, the majority of concourses tend to be narrow and too small, it's just the way football grounds are built.

I suppose when you think about the fact they are used for about an hour every two weeks, there was little point in making them bigger than they are. However I'd agree, especially between the North and West there would be a great opportunity to make that area a better experience and for fans to move from under the concourses.

It's not rocket science. Leave your seat in block P and Q etc in the west at half time and move your body an extra 15 yards and you are in the lovely vast expanse of the south concourse . Just a few of you mind . Fair enough , difficult if you sit at tother end of the west .

Maybe a couple of TV screens and shelves to rest your drink on the wall, in the wide open concourse between North and West would clear the serving areas?
I agree if we can move people away quicker from the serving areas it would be better for everyone.
F*ck the south by the way - it's time the North was revitalised and jobs created, better infrastructure, wealth redistributed.. oops sorry wrong thread

Don't think you need seating for a swift drink, if you are in the West you have been sat on your hands all first half already. 😁

I dont think you can do the original suggestion. You are not allowed to have an alcoholic drink whilst in view of the pitch. Whilst walking to the area under the north west corner you would briefly have a view of the pitch. Albeit building a wall to obstruct the view would resolve that but it creates an obstacle in exit.

I always thought that the area under the north west corner would have made a better location for the toilets. That would stop the people who just wanted the toilet having to push past people who were wanting to drink.

Actually having the toilets in the North West would also create a much bigger space to drink etc - probably talking a few bob to do but long term would be beneficial.

Just encourage those who have bought their pints to go and drink them in their seats..hey presto problem solved 👍

I raised this exact idea when we had our excellent secretary (can't remember his name) under oyston, he said it was what wonderland says and fans can see you drinking blah blah..

I also raised this with the current SLO when he first was appointed, he replied to say he would raise this but no reply on the outcome. But it is mental as that corridor is empty, really needs addressing to make the match experience that much better. They could even probably fit in a bottle bar to ease congestion.

I dont know if it helps but at Leeds they've put crash barriers across the external concourses with bars outside under cover,so you can go in and have a pint without actually going through the turnstile. At half time they open the exit gates so you can do the same and of course have a ciggy in the fresh air if you want one.

Decent suggestion and I doubt if there'd be many speculative fans who'd wait outside to get a free second half watch!! Although didn't they once used to open the turnstiles at half time to let people in for free or am I imagining that?
