What is the exact criteria to get out of Tier 3?

I haven’t heard the “exact” criteria that meant Lancashire went into it??

and I haven’t heard the exact target criteria to get out of it??

can anyone tell me please

There is no exact criteria, it's a balanced judgement based on factors including (but not limited to):
  • case numbers;
  • rate of change of case numbers;
  • hospital patients;
  • patients per day;
  • age distribution of case numbers;
  • geographical distribution of case numbers;
  • the situation is surrounding areas;
together with no doubt many other factors not mentioned above.

Well, you see, nobody knows, because basically, it has not happened before.
Hope this helps.
Every week you get to throw a D20 dice. A score of 3 or under you move up a tier. 18 or 19 you go down one.
A throw of 20 is a critical hit and you can go straight to lowest tier 👍

I think there are a few on here complaining who might be complaining even more if no restrictions were being made.

I don't agree with the restrictions myself.

But you are making that up.....you have no idea if the official “exact” criteria

To be honest apart from the pubs that don’t serve food not opening and outdoor gatherings with people other than your household or support group banned there’s pretty much no difference to tier two.
And the must have zero sex clause...that will hurt a few of course Lala

Absolutely pissed off with all this now. We only reopened the hotel on the 5th August and now we will be closing again as all bookings to the end of the year have been cancelled by guests 😪😪 Apparently no help from the council so how do we pay rent and bills with no income whatsoever. I cannot understand how you can open a hotel but people from two households can’t share a bedroom and you have to close your bar full stop when your residents only?
yet coral island can have 700 in with no social distancing whatsoever and a few hundred in the sandcastle at the same time. Absolute bloody madness

And this is why Andy Burnham is refusing to go into Tier 3 without adequate financial support for affected businesses. Some seem to think that's wrong.

What I think is wrong is Boris said everyone can go back to work few months ago yet a lot are still on furlough getting 80% wages when they could be at work
Also if I came off work with covid I’d get nothing yet people on benefits get covid I believe they receive £500 how can that be right ??
This has been one massive balls up from start to now.

People on benefits don't get £500. They get their benefits but may switch to another benefit if unavailable for work.

Unless you are one of the pubs or bars that have to close and face financial ruin as well as making staff redundant.

My local, the Mount, has shut tonight. Despite it serving food, it isnt worth them opening up. They were losing between 2-3K a week. I'm sad to say that I dont think they will reopen.

No platitudes from the "if it saves one life" brigade tonight.

Along with their cleaners, food / snack suppliers, window cleaner, fruit machine supplier etc etc etc
Exactly, people like Michelle will get big chunks of cash like they did first time round, but the businesses that supply her but can't trade will get nothing.

I'm actually quite emotional tonight. The pub I first went to when I was 15 (I know) to have my first pint, could be gone for good. I just feel really sorry for the people who work there that have become friends. Still, you can go to the ballet guys.

No one has actually got a clue Blood. It's a shit show and god knows how the country will recover. People like Michelle, the people who run the Mount and who work there and supply the food and drinks etc., are facing ruin. Music venues, musicians and artists, actors and all the people who work in that industry are on their knees, and Blackpool is a town who survives on just about all the above and with an already deprived socio-economic environment. There are certainly areas around the country who are in a lot less of a bad state and numbers of infection are low, but for how long, who knows. The problem is there doesn't seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel and the longer this goes on the more frustrated and agitated the population becomes and that will progress to anger and unrest.

We aren't the only country this is happening to, it's happening all over the World again so there clearly isn't an easy answer. A vaccine still seems a long way off and there's no saying one will even work, we just have to hope it will.

I guess it's easy to take this personally because it has such a negative effect on individuals in such large numbers, but I don't see it as a we're in such an area and so not as worthy as another area because they are more favoured, but it seems to be something that people latch on to. There are so many variants to this it is impossible to know what to do for the best. Tiers, regional lockdowns, National lockdowns, schools/Unis open and closed you can go on and on, a bit like me now and i still can't really say what I think because it's all so difficult.

It has to be better than full on lockdown.
I mean, to be fair, you can go to the ballet in London, shows at the Roysl Albert Hall, Arsene Wenger appreciation nights, and you can even go and watch a football match in a ground, but not in the stands. Oh and yes, if I wanna take my daughter and five of her friends to feed the ducks in the park, that's a no go, if I wanna shoot em with 29 other fellas, that's ok.

Very fair post pal.

Lala the real issue is the schools / universities - that's the major cause of the spikes
The attempt to pin this on hospitality is frankly disingenuous

I don’t think it’s as simple as that Tim, I think it’s a mix of a lot of things, including schools and Uni’s but also some hospitality venues, some workplaces, some disregard for the virus full stop, cultural and certainly the make up of certain towns and cities. The thing is the government are trying to save the economy and education as well as lives. Personally I don’t think schools or Unis should have gone back and more effort should have been put into teaching virtually so they could stay home, although that has its own problems. You see, there are no easy answers so I guess it’s better have tighter restrictions on areas that have higher R numbers and high hospital capacity and less restrictions in areas that aren’t as doing a blanket lockdown will just make it more difficult for far more people.

If infection rates continue to rise then
A) Close pubs serving food
B) Close gyms and leisure facilities
C) Ban meetings of 6 and over
D) Open pubs only serving alcohol
E) Open Bookies galore
F) Bloomfield Rd re-opens

If infection rates reduce
A) Enforce pies in all Pub locations
B) March everyone to the YMCA immediately
C) Everyone out the house on the street NOW
D) Close pubs serving food EXCEPT those in A
E) Betting on outcome of Brexit suspended
F) Shut down Football completely

If infection rates stay the same
A) Enforce Status Quo everywhere
B) March to Rockin All Over The World
C) Sweet Caroline for all
D) Whatever You Want
E) Just Supposin’
F) Your In The Army Now

But remember stay out of the black and into the red, nothing in this game for two in the bed!

I think that sums it up. There are no easy answers. We have been hit hard by Covid but its a Worldwide issue.
In a time certainly in the West when people demand & feel almost 'entitled' to immediate answers there are none & all we can actually do is suck it up & see.
Everybody is pissed of with it all, you could see by the recent vote that around 40% on this forum wanted to let it rip rather than face more restrictions. The gov & Local Councils are trying to find a balance but lets be honest its an impossible job..

Its tough but first and foremost all people should have a public responsibility to do what they can to limit the spread of the disease.
Unfortunately case numbers are rising again the R is above 1 and more people are dying.

If you got in your car and drove recklessly and knocked a granny over & she died you would be sent to prison.
With Covid a person may be reckless in their attitude & as a result responsible for the death of someone.
However because there are no direct consequences & often degrees of separation many are happy to be reckless.

More people have died with covid in the UK in the last 6 months than the amount killed in motor accidents in 20 years.

All the posts demonstrate what I suppose I knew already as regards COVID. No one, no matter political persuasion, nationality, job etc really has a clue how to tackle it so most people do their best.
Unfortunately as it goes on longer and longer I can see anger (through frustration, diminished circumstances, seeing loved ones being denied treatment for other health problems etc) building, increasing non compliance and confrontations in society.......I am not saying that should happen but I think it will.......and if we ever get to the stage of the Army becoming involved on the streets then we are in very very dangerous territory

Bollox seasider we haven’t had chunks of cash at all so get your facts right. In the five months we were first closed in March I’ve lost around £90,000 the council gave us £10,000 hardly scratched the surface. This time around we’re getting nothing. So there you go.

I agree absolutely that if you are prevented from trading by the authorities they have a moral obligation to compensate you. But it’s not the Council who is closing you down; it’s central government. So they are the ones who should provide financial support.

And that’s what the current spats between Government and local authorities are all about - sufficient money to provide support and who gets the blame when it goes tits up.

It’s a vicious circle isn’t it. Close business down due to lock down, receive little Taxation so unable to compensate business as there’s no money.

Even though we were closed for 5 months Blackpool council still made us pay a full 12 months bar license which I find despicable when we were forced to close. Also have to pay full 12 months of council tax on a hotel that’s been empty and closed more than it’s been open. Same with tv license and prs and ppl and public liability insurance. How can they charge us the full amounts is beyond me. For example public liability protects members of the public only so if I’m closed why do I have to still pay this ??
