What was Turton offered by us?

As he was our lowest paid player, on 800 a week (allegedly) on a 1 year contract, I suggest he was only offered another 1 year, on little more.
If so another derisory contract for a player who was awesome all season in different positions too!
As he started 41 games in sure Critchley thought highly of him, so who made the decisions on a new contract?.
His agent obviously pre tempted this so already had offers of more.
Gutted we lost him & could be hard to replace him, without a large fee?
I know a few "supporters" weren't keen on him, but when has he had a poor game this season??

So you make up Bollocks and turn it into fact?

All allegedly. I don't know where the £800 per week came from as only the club and player know what his current salary is and those football salary websites are usually crap. We also don't know what he was offered, but I doubt it was a 2+1 deal he was offered already by Huddersfield

The £800 came from that website that purports to know the wages of all players from all clubs.
Absolutely no guarantee it was accurate but it was perhaps "indicative".
If you search back through the messageboard you will find the link.
Alternatively google it.

I know the website and it is crap. No football club (private business) would disclose confidential contract details of its employees. Similar to those websites that value players and which aren't realistic

He was on £1200 per week plus appearance money etc. Still the lowest earner out of the first team regulars.

Wages are only part of it where there are bonuses, appearance money and signing on fees etc, but Huddersfield won't be loaded even after Hoyle agreed a knock down deal to help with their debt recently.

One thing I've learnt over the years is big or bigger money isnt the answer, but wise spending that offers reasonable rewards is. A lot depends on the player and whether he's after playing success or simply making as much money as possible.

Exibit A would be say Henri Lansbury.

He plays on Sunday then signs for another club by Thursday anyone who doesn't think his agent was touting him about hasn't a clue.
Good luck to the lad no issue the days I get upset about someone leaving to better themselves are long gone it happens even had a discussion about Critch the other day my mate didn't believe he would leave us if someone came in for him yeh right.

His passing backwards was a joy to watch!

He'd signed a pre-contract agreement with Huddersfield, so as soon as his contract ran out with us he was instantly signed to them. At what point he signed that pre-contract agreement we don't know, you'd imagine it was earlier in the year when he maybe thought we weren't going up.

As a 'supporter' I've said we need better. Not changing my mind because he's gone to Huddersfield. No loss.

I would like to think:
1- Ollie enjoyed his time here and as such if the terms with us were ok for him he would have stayed
2- He and BFC had discussions about what offer he would receive from us to enable him to make a decision
3- BFC were aware of his decision
4- He remained a model professional to the end
5- He will receive a warm welcome when he returns with Huddersfield

Hudds lowest paid senior player is on almost 8 grand a week, looks like they're downsizing but I'd be surprised if he was on less than 4k, fair play to the lad, he doesn't have long left and this should allow him to build a secure future for himself.

Robbie Williams did something similar when he had agreed a deal with Huddersfield too, as a Barnsley player on loan at Blackpool- nothing unusual about this.

In fact he had no regrets...

Sorry no idea where you got that from, but I think it’s more likely at 28, this was his chance at a decent payday/signing fee as a free agent. I don’t blame him or the club, it’s just football.

He was a decent player with some limitations, as do all footballers, but, he is not irreplaceable. How many players have left Bloomfield Road and then disappeared? I wish him well at Hudders and am sure we will have someone else to fill his boots.

Looks to me like Huddersfield clearly contacted Turton weeks ago and he gave his word he would sign regardless of our fate. Either way he was getting Championship football. Huddersfield still have parachute payment money too.
He did well last season but I genuinely think the Championship might be a step too far for him but we’ll replace him with no issues.

No one is now talking about the players we let go last season, and none would get into the first 11.
If we had kept Turts it would probably been simply out of loyalty. He served the club well but we have moved on. Kaikai he never gave any level of consistency although brilliant in patches, but very hard to plan team around luxury players.
I think our transfers this window will be a different level.

As is almost always the case these days, we will upgrade him and get in someone of better quality...same with Kai Kai nad will be the same with Madine if he goes...we are moving in the right direction so strap in and enjoy the ride. Anyone who thinks the team last season was good enough to be competitive in the Championship is delusional...we needed to upgrade and we will

He could of stayed as a no.2 right back but has left for first team football.

This.

It is a buyer's market this year, more than it has been for ages. There are going to be lots of decent players out of work this summer.

Those having a pop...
Read the words "allegedly" & "suggest"
Or cant you understand larger words??
No facts there!
Note...
Still nobody has answered my question, when did he last have a poor game for us ??
🤣

Ollie Turton a great servant of our club and wish him well for the future. Let’s just appreciate what he did for us rather than slag him off saying he’s not good enough for the Championship - who knows, certainly not I, but I know a man at Bloomfield Rd who does!

He’s took up an offer presumably on a lot more money with a guaranteed two years in the championship. No guarantees we would go up at the time. Can’t blame him, tbh I think we’d be only looking at keeping him as a squad player for one year tops.

People need to get thier head out of the sand and realise most of our squad are good lg1 players and that's it... They won't be any good in the championship and next season if we don't cut a lot of them we'll be in a relegation battle by xmas

Brilliant outcome in my thinking- very good player, nice bloke, longest serving player, good enough for the championship- not sure, offered a new contract, would only be a squad player at best, turned it down respectfully, no hard feelings either way & a pay rise for Ollie, great reception when he comes back, I can’t see any negatives in the whole situation, good luck to him

The own goal showed his limitations, anyone with 2 half decent feet could have cleared that.
...maybe the ball should never reach him in the first place....just one of those things( and I was there at an angle to see how awkward it was for him) and did it get to him...NO...

..he’s decided to move and good luck to him as long it isn’t against us.

Remarkable really that they finished as low as they did and are after players like Turton when they are still getting this money.
2019/20 they got £42m in parachute payments
I’m surprised another Championship club were in for him. I’m not sure he’d have been a regular starter for us next season.

I'm presuming the club and players knew he'd signed a pre contract deal elsewhere, didn't just happen overnight.
If so just shows the faith NC had in him, to continue to perform at his best.
